Shit. KU just needs to be like 4-8 or 5-7 to keep people happy. Not even go above 6 wins.

But in all seriousness. It seems from afar that the vibe around the department is the best it’s been. Bill has his contract. Goff is going and somewhat no nonsense guy who helped Northwestern be a top program in the BIG with their facilities and support. You have HC that have been 43-11 over the last like 5 years interested in the job.

If KU was 4-8 next season, the new head coach might get carried out of the stadium by the players and fans in joy.

According to some things I’ve read elsewhere, Lance Leipold has taken the lead in the search and by a bit of a decent margin it seems.

Still lots of stuff unverified, just multiple things I’ve read.

Again, fine with that. I’ve been on the Monken train but Leipold has been a close 2nd. Would love either of those guys.

If indeed true that is beautiful. Leipold might be as close to a ‘for sure’ as Ku could have ever imagined getting.

Just wondering the economics of the situation. For awhile we were paying the most for a football HC due mainly to the fact of payments to ex-coaches...Gill, Weis. This of course led us to Beaty who wasn't really a HC but we paid him like a coordinator so it was what it was. Miles made 2.7 million.

We going cheap with someone like Leopold or we going real. Elko makes 2.1 million now. Lanning makes 1.7 million now. Manning is in Leopold range 600k.

There's talk Monken might have flown in last night to Wheeler in KC last night and doing an interview this morning. And then a flight from Rochester (Close to Buffalo) landing around 2pm at Wheeler and could be Leipold doing his in-person interview.

There was speculation neutral site interviews might have been taking place in Charleston, as flights were leaving Lawrence to there, but could have just been a coincidence considering these flights from NY State to Wheeler happened in a pretty close manner.

I think both those guys seem like good gets for the situation KU is in.
But who knows.

Something is going to happen this week and for all of our sakes it better be a Monken or Leipold announcement as the next HC of KU football.

I would imagine Thursday is when we'll hear something. Fly him in on Friday. Attend the Spring Game Saturday.

Alright guys. We are probably 2-3 days away from Goff picking the new coach.. Predictions..?

Leipold with like 65% sure
Monken at like 20%
Fritz at like 10%
Field for the remaining 5%

I think it's Leipold's to lose at this point. Monken is a bit of an unknown with offensive scheme and whatnot considering he's always been triple option. Think Leipold is as sure as they come.

Monken has made a nice push as of late but I'm still going to hold firm on my initial pick of Leipold.

Who wouldn’t take 21-35 over 5 years as this point?

Talk that Leipold might now headed to meet with some big boosters in Austin. AKA David Booth. There were 2 flights scheduled to leave close to around the same time for Austin. One from Buffalo, the other from close to West Point. Buffalo flight left, High Point (Close to West Point) is still scheduled almost 4 hours after scheduled takeoff time.

I think it's time to face it, and be happy with it, because I sure am. But Lance Leipold will be the 40th HC for Kansas Football.
