Yeah, overall I think the Bills played well and the Chiefs didn't play as well and Mahomes still had his hands on the ball with enough time to have a legit shot at the win. No teams or players succeed in those 100% of the time. Today was just one of those when they didn't. Too many fixable mistakes out there and too thin at positions where they have better players who are slated to return this season.

Bummed they lost but it wasn't any sort of alarming "they are just way better than us" momentikw aftwr the Kentucky thrashing in AFH (how this season played out with Kentucky will always make this title uniquely sweet). If everyone for both teams get their players back on the schedule they are expected to be on, progresses as they typically do through a typical season of late and lose no one of note to injury, I'd like KC in that game.

My overly simplistic analysis of this game is Allen had time to throw and Mahomes didn't.

Karlaftis doesn’t seem to be making a difference yet. Our four just doesn’t get pressure. And we were blitzing more than Buffalo was -- yet Buffalo got pressure without sending extra dudes.

I’ll also add our run game was non existent. Did CEH get 30 yards?

Biggest concerns
1. Both turnstiles, I mean tackles. Wylie more than ObJ Jr.
2. Pass rush. Other than Jones and a few from Clark it is nonexistent. They have to make a move for an edge at the deadline. You live by the blitz, you die by the blitz.
3. Running game. You know why they looked so good against TB. They ran the ball successfully, primarily on first down. Play sheet gets wide open when it’s 2nd and 4. Stop parading CEH as RB1. Make him a gadget, slot guy like Hardman and give the bulk of the attempts to Jet and Pacheo.

Agree with all of this - especially number 3.

The quick solve here is edge rusher. Your best corners are really your best edge rushers. Especially a speed rusher. Frees up Jones inside from double teams. Don’t have an extensive playbook to learn either. Basically plug and play.

I don’t think you can find a replacement better than Wylie at the deadline. Maybe Niang can get healthy. Maybe you go see what Fisher has left in the tank?

WR always gets mentioned but how is a guy going to come in and learn Reid’s notoriously difficult playbook in a half year rental. WR is the sexy pick but that doesn’t really solve the issues the Chiefs have.

For once I would like the see the Chiefs be aggressive and let Mahomes run the show. To often the case I see them get way to conservative late and trust the defense. Defense fails and then 15 has to bail them out. Go trust your best player to close a game out.

Trade away CEH and a 2nd for McCaffrey as long as Carolina agrees to eat some of the costs and/or we can negotiate the current contract?

Carolina will have to eat some if not a lot of the contracts of what players they will deal. Teams know how desperate they are to ship the guys off, so they'll use that leverage.

I would be absolutely stunned if Carolina would accept less than a 1st round pick for McCaffrey.

They MAY Have accepted less than a 1st round pick. If so, I'm stunned too.

Yep, I was right. I am stunned. Nines are nasty, even with Jimmy G at QB. CMC, Deebo, Kittle and Aiyuk is ridiculous.

That’s still a really good haul for a RB.
You can find a RB replacement with that 2nd or 3rd.

Will McCaffrey play us this Sunday?

Your guess is better than mine but according to these - it seems there is a good chance he will.

So Brian Burns….

I’m sure CMC has already gotten a playbook download of Shan’s offense. Hardest thing to pick up is protection slides. Other than that mostly run left, right or middle.

It’s so much about the line with the shanahan zone block scheme. If their line is good, cmc will absolutely eat. Good trade.

Edit: realizing now this is in the chiefs thread?

I was at the Rose Bowl in 2016. The one where McCaffrey rushed for 172 yards, had 125 yards receiving, 1 kick return (28 yards) and 1 punt return (63 yards). 388 yards of "offense".
Thing that impressed me more than his stats - the guy was the first player on the field warming up and practicing and didn't stop for more than a few seconds at a time for close to an hour and a half.
