Booked flights to a relatives wedding across the country. Said no kids at ceremony or reception. But there'd be a sitter provided off site. OK. Cool. We'll come ( this includes bro/sister in law and their kid ).
Learn this weekend, scratch that, no sitter, sorry, we don't know of any either.
How acceptable would it be to have the blood relatives ( two lady cousins ) go and for the dads and kids to cancel and sit this one out?
Bring the kids and turn em looose. What're they gone do?

100% acceptable.
Maybe send them a set of these as a present?

Always, always, always late to the party. That's me.
To the q, it's perfectly acceptable, and you should act like it.
The rels have a rule. And
had a plan. Plan chg'd. So, that's that.
Don't overthink it, or "explain" your approach to anyone.

Oh boy, the saga continues.
Bro in laws are aligned. Ladies a bit less so but since it's bro in laws idea, we have to tell the MIL and fam.

Oh, i'm probably down the middle when it comes to positivity.
In this case, i'm just being objectively real to the likely outcome of the sequence of events.

Yeah, for your sake I sincerely hope it works out ok for you.
Life is full of hassles but some I should give more thought to being grateful for.
Example being, I have to deal with a 3 day long birthday celebration for a 90 year old this weekend.
Easy for us to say we might want to change places with each other but in the end hopefully we both walk away saying it was better than we expected.

That's what a small cigar and a glass of [you call it] is for.
After the kids are asleep, of course.

Ok. If that's soothing for you, I'm all for it.
Whole wrap-up to this episode seems kinda anticlimactic, if I may say.
Started out full of intrigue, though.

BIL broke under pressure.
I’m all alone and without that united front our plan has collapsed.
Cross country with two toddlers. Haven’t booked a place to stay. Have no idea what we will do with them during all the events they can’t go to.
Heaven help us all.

I initially read that as BUD broke under pressure.
That would suck. Inflatables are so difficult to patch.
