Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions since 1988

how many countries outside the US have you visited?BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:40 pmYou think Russia and China don't have issues with misinformation? LOLousdahl wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:34 pm In the context of covid, and not necessarily directly related to the capitalism discussion, do other countries have such issues with anti-vaxxers and misinformation?
Again in some bigger context, and pols boredy, aren’t other countries pretty put off by our political system, and the endless campaigning and unlimited dark money and outrage media personalities and shit?
What other countries specifically are put off by us? Outside of a handful of countries we have a vastly superior country in almost all aspects of life to the rest of the world.
We are so spoiled that some of us think we've got it bad. Take a look at the middle east, south america, russia, china, etc.

true, that nearly every country is contributing to environmental issues
but the magnitude of that contribution skews heavily towards a few capitalist countries

We aren't considering China and Russia capitalist are we?
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
russia is...china says it isn’t, despite many features that one could argue are very much capitalist
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
You realize that every country ever thinks they’re the greatest country in the world, right?
And yeah I’m sure Russia and China have misinformation issues of their own, but isn’t that more a state propaganda thing and less a proudly ignorant freedom lovers getting their world view from Facebook memes?

Aren’t the less wealthy developing countries often less wealthy and less developed in large part cuz they’re exploited by the wealthier countries too?BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:25 pmIt isn't just capitalist countries contributing to the environmental crisis fwiw. Genuinely asking. And that’s a whole different can of worms.

Looks like without China on board and leading the charge it is sort of a moot point. They account for 28% of the worlds emissions according to that graph.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:45 pm russia is...china says it isn’t, despite many features that one could argue are very much capitalist

Actually, isn’t Cuba beating us in at least some metrics?
Life expectancy and stuff like that. Cuz they consider healthcare to be a basic human right, rather than a luxury for those who can afford it.
But don’t let that mess with the world view that socialized medicine is bayad.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Why do so many people want to migrate here then? From all over the globe. Why don't they go to all those other countries they think are better?TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:42 pmhow many countries outside the US have you visited?BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:40 pmYou think Russia and China don't have issues with misinformation? If you get in a car accident and are rushed to the hospital in the united states you are treated whether you have health insurance or not. That is healthcare.
Healthcare should be a "right" for everyone.
