I didn't blame poor folks for anything.
I also don't blame all the rich people for anything/everything i can think of.
you are a perfect microcosm of our education system failingWalrus wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 1:45 pm I don't blame the poor. I blame the public schools and governments for keeping people misinformed and uneducated on the reality of our situation. We have someone in this thread who thinks inflation is inevitable, when inflation is a choice that governments make. That's just one example of our education failing.

Let's be honest, you probably don't work hard enough/smart enough to own much of anything. Hey, neither do I for the most part....but i don't vilify business owners for my problems.
....and when they say "community as a whole" they really mean is the governement (our elected officials) who always do what's best for the people no matter what right? a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole
Believe it or not, we agree - albeit in a roundabout way.
Why does the gummint need to do that?BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 2:18 pm....and when they say "community as a whole" they really mean is the governement (our elected officials) who always do what's best for the people no matter what right? Do you not trust the free market to do it?
I think, under the model of socialism, those who know what’s best for a people is a people’s union?
But we all know how Merica feels about unions.
No way Mericans would try to form a union, especially not a more perfect union! Next thing you’d know, we’d be trying to promote the general welfare!
Equality of opportunity?ousdahl wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 2:45 pm My point was, I don’t trust the “free market” to foster economic equality or economic sustainability.
If it’s between the “free market” and the gummint to decide things like fair wages, I at least trust the gummint more than the “free market.” Do you?
But the truth is, I would rather not have the gummint do that either. I’d rather have the people deciding that, by means well-organized unions and better/more understanding of economic policies they vote for and such.
Bonus points to anyone who also got the preamble joke.
How is that statement really any different than this one?
