I think they said 7'1" 190lb? Jeebus.
Sorry for the late reply-but according to the roster info, Chet Holmgren is 7' 195lb.

I used to be a huge Penny fan - when he was a player.
Something that caught my attention.
Does he really believe he started 4 Freshmen? I ask because he did NOT. He started 3 Freshmen.
The man is yet to coach in an NCAA Tournament game. If Memphis doesn't make the tourney this season, is he gone after this season?

this is what you get when you hire someone that is not qualified for the position.

Yikes. Can't lose it like that on camera in that situation. Even if you think you're right/justified, gotta shrug it off. Maybe stop reading articles about yourself.

The national media loved that hire because of James Wiseman. I always felt it was a disaster waiting to happen.

I agree. His hire was a PR move. He has no idea what he's doing.

He brings in Larry Brown, which I don't think is a bad idea--he clearly needs a bench guy. But, he does it way too late as it should have been the day he was hired, and LB at this point is better for a consultant role. I'd only trust LB to give his all under Self or Cal.

When I think of Memphis I can't forget when they were known as Memphis State and they came to Allen in 85. Almost all of their players were from Memphis and they were #3 in the country. They were an extremely physical and athletic team. I think they were 16-1 or 17-1 when we played them and I think it we won by 3, 4, or 5. They went to the Final Four that season. That was the last time KU was not in the tournament - despite our being ranked in the top ten in the final week of the regular season. Fuck the NCAA!

Forrest has a really nice resume as a "bench guy".

I love LB, but he needs to be put out to pasture at this point.

I sort of think it's strange he wants to keep working in a role like that at this point in his career/life.

Yes. Seems Penny agreed with you that he needed an experienced and successful bench guy. Thus both Forrest and L.B. are on his staff this season. Of course they (Memphis Basketball) have legitimate excuses but so far - you and I might as well be their bench guys.

Dude has basically said he wants to die coaching. Heck, he was considering coaching HS basketball recently. I don't understand why he wouldn't prefer to be a network analyst but hey, being at Memphis, he gets to see "co-eds" every day - so that probably makes him very happy.

I think it is still true that Self has never been to a Final Four without LB in the locker room/traveling with the team.

Definitely his fault that it started.
