Thats where science is truly being ignored. Why don't these politicians promote personal health choices? Instead they shut down gyms all across the country

Higher premiums for non-vax status seems to be around the corner if not here already.

Cuz the constituents view “personal health choices” as “mock exercise and healthy eating, I’d rather sit on my fat ass and eat fast food, I got mah rights.” Depending on the district, promoting healthy lifestyles could be political career suicide.

(Remember when Michelle Obama’s flotus pet project was healthy lifestyles, and pubs was so outraged that Sarah Palin handed out cookies at schools?)

And I think gyms were the increased likelihood of transmission, more than intentionally trying to prevent exercise

Speaking of Buffets, anyone ever just eat themselves silly at King Buffet at (I think) 23rd street? I remember eating my body weight in crab rangoons then slamming any gooey breaded chicken thing like General Tao or Sesame Chicken.

I miss having a metabolism and time to play sports all weekend.

Mississippi, West Virginia, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Michigan, Louisiana, South Carolina.

9 of those 10 states went to Trump in 2020. The 10th barely went to Biden.

States with the lowest covid vaccination rates:
Alabama, Mississippi, Wyoming, Idaho, Louisiana, Arkansas, West Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, North Dakota.

All 10 of those went to Trump in 2020.

Lots of crossovers between the two lists. I think the odds of those people following any recommended health guidelines was as low as their performance in following covid guidelines.

I recall going to Jin Shan on 23rd a few times.


I like Indian buffets. Sadly, they may never come back in KC.

Ironically, all cases of household transmission began by someone contracting covid outside of their home and then infecting people in their home. The vast majority of those in cases where people either did not or could not follow recommended procedures.

I don't think I had that one. Just looked it up, and it seems like it closed.

I just remember King had like $8 days for students or something. Ate enough at like 5 pm to keep my full for 24 hours.

I don't think I ever had Indian buffet. Sounds like a great idea if I wasn't so health conscious now. I don't even know the last time I had a buffet that wasn't a catered event. Has to be since KU. I wonder if they were like a 90s thing. Seems like you don't see that option as often any more.

My company subsidizes like $1,100 a year (plus like another $500 for my wife) if your BMI is under 25, or if it's over 25, it doesn't increase each year. That comes out to like 40% of my premiums. Backdoor way around that I guess.

Nothing like committing credit card fraud for a pizza. I don't remember any other pizza joints on 23rd other than Gumby's, Wheat State and Pizza Shuttle. Wasn't Godfathers a buffet place? Was there one in Lawrence?

I think it was at 23rd and Iowa, right next to that big liquor store

Been to many a buffet back in the days. Anyone remember Ponderosa? We used to call it Ponderosa Pig Out!! As a vegetarian I would just hand over the steak to my buddies and eat just about everything in the buffet. My friends would joke that I need to be careful when loading up my plate because the manager may come out and offer me the money back if I promised never to return!!

Nowadays I can barely finish my first round (early 20s vs late 50s)!
