This is offensive.

The fact it's thought of as okay around here by some because you're a liberal is bizarre. A bunch of woke white people making racial jokes....#Merica

You lose all your credibility when you do this over and over. You wouldn't do that in front of people of color, but you do here because whiteness protects whiteness so you feel safe to push the limits with your words.
where’d you get your crystal ball?

just curious, cuz i’d like to know everyone’s race too
I don't know "everyone's", but the overwhelming majority is white.

I might just do that....but I already know for a fact she would agree with me on the phrase ousdahl used, regardless of his intent (which was OBVIOUSLY not to be racist, but was also not a direct quote of someone which would be about the only acceptable reason I can dream up where it'd be okay to use that phrase).

"I already know she would agree on the offensive phrase when I completely remove it from the context of the usage"

Illy in a nutshell.

There is no context where it's okay to use that phrase outside of condemning a direct quote from someone.

Using it to humorously bash republicans isn't an appropriate context.

Still not getting it?

In Illy's defense, he is a farm real estate appraiser for a podunk bank in a podunk part of Illinois (I'm thinking Mount Vernon or Effingham), and he was dropped on his head when he was a baby/toddler.
Love the podunk talk from someone who is from Leawood with a whopping population of 35k....but hey, you're close to the big city.

IllinoisJayhawk wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2019 12:44 pm Point out racism. Call it out. Shame republicans. I'm all for it....but do it tastefully. When you start going the route of racial slurs, even if (some) republicans did it first, it quickly can become offensive. In general, if you're white, just don't use racial slurs.
I have decided to take your advice and dig deeper into Obama's comments. You should read it again yourself and apply it to your own comments in this thread.

"This idea of purity and you're never compromised and you're always politically woke and all that stuff, you should get over that quickly."

"The way of me making change is to be as judgmental as possible about other people, and that's not enough."

"If I tweet or hashtag about how you didnt do something right or used the wrong verb, then I can sit back and feel pretty good about myself, be cause man, you see how woke I was?"

"That's not bringing about change. If all you do is casting stones, you're probably not going to get that far."

Read it twice and let it sink in. Then go back and read all your ignorant finger wagging posts for the last however many pages.

The good news is that you're a liberal so you're allowed to be offensive on this website.

I remember over the months and years back at .net and again here at KCrim when I'd read threads on the Basketball forum and wonder why PhD and Cascadia, among others, seemed to constantly be giving Illinois shit. Shit for taking over threads and arguing and arguing about essentially nothing, without the ability to let anything go. At times, it would annoy me and I'd actually get a little pissed off about the way they were treating Illi. But, I never said anything because I wasn't involved in the conversation and it seemed that intelligent people whose opinions I respect were the ones giving Illi the shit, so I kept my feelings to myself.

This isn't easy, but I'd like to ask their forgiveness. I admit I was wrong, for even thinking such an absurd thing. Unfortunately, now, I totally get it.

So if there was a dinner party and the host's two friends....let's call them Lemuel and Myron used this term, "negrow mooslim"(1) in a humorous way, mocking trumpublicans.... and the friend's significant others,.... let's call them Penny and Jaclynn laughed indicating acceptance as humor, could the host use this in a humorous way if it is shown in "quotes"? And a properly annotated bibliography of the quote shown with reference to Lemuel and Myron of course.

Asking for a friend.

Are Lemuel, Myron, Penny and Jaclynn racists and I haven't....I mean my friend, just hasn't noticed?

If the host is white but it isn't hurtful to the friends (who might be black) because they find it funny, is the host tacitly encouraging racism?

If Lemuel, Myron, Penny and Jaclynn are black, are they hurting themselves and encouraging racism?

There is so much to learn about being woke and I am happy to learn more. I may hav more questions in the future.

Bibliography:
(1) X,Lemuel and M,Myron; dinner party conversation with beers. japhy, 2018.

If this passes approval, then I think now anyone on this website can use this term in quotes with proper bibliography and annotations.
