No thanks.

We're set in the backcourt whether CB and JW return or not. DH Yes Bobby Cuffe Gradey Rice...maybe KJ at the 3 occasionally if he learns to shoot.

I'd rather we use the scholly on that 6'6 41% 3pt shooter from south dakota state.
So long as that SDSU kid takes it easy on the hot dogging.

Ouch.

I think it is strange we are even on the TT guys list. He was said to be a team leader....and yet he's abandoning the team to go to a conference opponent where he wouldn't even be guaranteed playing time due to Gradey and MJ...seems weird to me even though KU and TT aren't even close to the same quality of program, and Lubbock and Lawrence aren't even close to the same type of environments to experience college.

What's his beef with TT all of a sudden? Seems like that's a better place for him than KU or Zags. NIL opportunities/offers?

Actually Jack Nicholson or Leo or whoever could in fact give LeBron or whoever money to sign for less with the Lakers than somewhere else. It would be a gift and it would be taxable.

Leo could say "hey bron, i know the knicks are offering you 20mil this year, and the lakers can only give you 18mil, but if you stay with the Lakers i will gift you 2mil."

That's not against the law or against NBA salary cap because Leo is not affiliated with the Lakers.
You're making my point fir me.

The NBA has been around almost 80 years, and that's never happened. The NFL even longer.

NIL has been around for a year and it's ubiquitous in college sports.

College is different than the pros, because of its history and the precedents that have been established.

And I promise you, if new balance told Zach Levine they'd pay him and additional $5 million, but only if he signs with Boston. That would immediately become the #1 issue on the next cba.
Huh? I have been hearing since the dawn of time how many additional "extra" financial opportunities would be available to NBA and NFL players who signed with teams in New York, LA, etc... I am sure it's a total coincidence that LeBron made tens of millions for starring in Space Jam 2 right after moving to Los Angeles after the company got a $21+ million dollar tax break for shooting in California.
I have no idea about James' situation.

But the potential to make more money is completely different than being paid to go to a place.
I only came to kick some ass...

I think it's a tad naive to think that the two situations are somehow completely different. Under Armour begged KD to go to the wizards to the tune of nearly $300 million.

edit: I do think your concerns are valid, though.

Like I said. A tad naive.

It might just be a coincidence that the biggest stars go to the biggest markets where they sign the biggest endorsement deals and win the most championships playing for teams owned by the country's billionaires.

Do we also think that Zion went to duke and got nothing from Nike because he turned down an adidas offer?

Like I said, going someplace because there are more opportunities to make money, is entirely different than going someplace because you're being paid to as part of an endorsement deal.

Miami already had lots of advantages in its favor, now it's got car dealerships to sign contracts for it.

I don't like that that is happening in college, but I am surprised that you think it's definitely not happening in pro sports as well.

Yes, the same Kevin Durant who is from Baltimore, the location of UnderArmour headquarters.

It'll be interesting to see how things settle here. You'd think that, perhaps in the same way that certain NBA markets have inherent advantages that sit outside the salary cap (weather, city, marketing opportunities etc.), certain college basketball programs (like KU, Duke, UNC, UK, etc.) will be destinations that have built-in advantages that differentiate from just cash.

He cut us:
Not to be too dismissive because this kid is certainly talented, but isn't this guy essentially what we're betting on Grady Dick being? So yeah, it would make sense KU would be interested but not all-in on him.

If there's one thing this team doesn't exactly need, it's another wing, whether it's this guy or McCullar. I'd rather have Tyrese Hunter.

so one of my fishing buddies, the UK fan, says his cousin played women's college ball in the 80s.

She went to some directional school that made a run to the final four.

even damn near 40 years ago, as a women's player at a directional school, she was being paid.

I actually think we do need a wing to emerge. we got 3 Potential PGs, stacked on Bigs...if CB and Jalen leave we've got Dick and maybe Rice depending on where he's at. We need another wing who can shoot and stretch the D

Nobody like this is going to want to be a backup wing behind Dick and that's what he would be.

My favorite way of illustrating this point is that Blue Chips and The Program came out nearly THIRTY YEARS AGO. So, THIRTY YEARS AGO, the black market for players was already mature enough (and not-so-secret-enough) that high-budget, fictionalized accounts of it could be made.

I think an issue, at least right now, with college kids compared to pros is that $400k is more than enough to sway a young guy like Nijel Pack to a certain school. Whereas that would be a pretty laughable amount to a free agent NBA player.

The smaller deals are letting local companies get in on this.
