"The mvp award is a regular season award
Finals mvp is the post season award
If we did it your way, there would be no point of having 2 awards"
No.
To both your comments.
1.5 are not entirely correct -- the other is what I am arguing should be changed.
Already back and failing, immediately, hard.

Look to this season, where you are already embedding social media posts which speaks to my argument.
Joel and Jokic were neck and neck in this seasons 2023 MVP vote.
Joel flamed out in the most important game of his career. Meanwhile Joker is dominating so far.
Advancing to the Western Conference Finals may mean enough for a few voters to change their decision on who was the best in the ENTIRE ( my argument, again, just to make things very clear, an argument, not what is currently happening ) season. It might not. But say Joker averages a triple double this next series, beats the Lakers, and then does so again but looses to the Celtics.
He very very likely would not win the Finals MVP award.
But he would have done enough to convince some voters he deserved the MVP over Joel ( who was close in the vote ).
If Jayson Tatum goes and wins the Finals MVP ( very possible ) then you'd have voters deciding whether his regular season was enough to overtake Jokic. Very likely not, but possible. If Jaylen Brown won the Finals MVP, the argument wouldn't even be there -- hence, there would be a point of having 2 awards.
If you think that's an exception ( "no point of having 2 awards" ) then look all the way back to....last season...where Steph had a poor ( by his standards ) regular season but then went off in the Finals. That wouldn't have been enough for Steph to win the entire season award but he could still win the MVP of the Finals.

The mvp is political anyways. They could've given lebron 10 in a row. Jokic deserved a 3rd one
Its called voter attrition

Embiid wouldn't have won shit with the pdub method. Nba voters tend to share the mvp award based on recent success too. Embiid has finished 2nd in the mvp vote 2 years in a row. Won this one by default instead of giving jokic 3 in a row.
He sure didn't back it up with his playoff performance. But he has deserved to win one based on his past 3 seasons

Here is something most people (KU fan or not) don't really take in to account.
Embiid only averaged 11.2 and 8.1 at KU. Hit a grand total of one 3 pointer in his KU career.
Not too sure what people were expecting him to do in the post season - other than show up and play. Yes, 11.2 and 8.1 very well could have been a big difference maker. So.... Fuck him!?!?

He also shot 62.6% from the field and averaged 2.6 blocks per game.

Surely he meant less with more. Doc is a horrible coach. That title with Boston has kept him afloat for 15 years

Yes less with more. He's had Hall of Famers in almost every organization and team he has coached.
Has been to 2 NBA Finals. That's it. 2.
He's trbl terrible.

He had a winning lottery ticket with the Celtics. Getting pierce, Allen, and KG at the end of their primes and desperately hungry for success... anyone could have won a title there

He makes so many winning plays. So talented for a slow fat guy. He has really worked at his craft.

NOT funny that I posted that with just 6 minutes left in the game.
Seems maybe the Lakers aren't fakers and maybe last night Joker/Murray weren't > AD/LeBron
