This week, the impact will quickly be felt by folks who rely on income provided by government workers.
Expect Don John to either knuckle under as he usually does....or blow it up.

What does voting have to do with Joe Lunchbox?
So strange.

... explain to my why you think that federal employees are not deserving of a tiny yearly raise?
...
I don’t think any one said Federal workers do not “deserve” a raise. The point (at least mine) is they get one regardless and even when the govt coffers are too low to afford it. Federal employees already get some of the best benefits, numerous holidays, and are near impossible to fire.
I haven’t gotten a raise for years now. My work has been stellar, knowledge and responsibilities have grown, etc. Would a COLA be nice? You bet. Do I deserve it? Yes. Do I expect it or demand it? No, and especially when my employer can’t afford it.

1. best benefits,
2. numerous holidays
3. are near impossible to fire.
1. Not true. Maybe it used to be, it isn't any more.
2. Most career type jobs get most of these holidays off. The additional 4 days off for MLK, Washington's b-day, Columbus Day, and Veteran's day don't really count much in the grand scheme of things. I mean, if you REALLY want an extra Monday off in October, take a personal day. If someone offered me a 2% raise or 4 random Mondays off a year, I'm taking the money.
3. This is true, and is a real problem.

1. It is all relative. I don’t have a good source to compare benefits, but I know the retirement benefits were excellent and the accruals were more than I could ever use. Where I worked, people retired early (youngish) and lived very comfortably regardless of their level of education.

Depending on years of employment, FERS is a pretty generous benefit.

Medical and Dental insurance are worse than most private sector jobs. Life insurance is pretty standard. FERS is good, but as mentioned, that's only really true if you're a lifer and of course you can really benefit if you got a high paying promotion at some point during your career... but there are lot of retirement plans that become good when you're fully vested or if you've gotten a big promotion.
I'll buy that government benefits are better than the average career,...but they're not the best, and people make a huge deal out of them. There aren't any of the crazy benefits you hear about with Amazon or Google, etc. where you can get gender reassignment surgery or you have memberships to fancy golf courses, or like at Burger King where you can get a 50% discount on all food while you work. I mean, that's a big discount on a Bacon King that no one working for the federal gov't is getting.

Why are we talking about benefits as if they are poison?
You get a good job, they come with good benefits. That's a large part of what makes a job good.
2% raises should be a minimum, for everyone.
With rising cost of living, 2% isn't even keeping up.

Hey Russian, I think you should back off, put your
pitchfork down, and give Illie credit where credit is due.
I dream of a world where this is an indication Illie's realized that posting ignorant, unenlightened, uninformed, Imz/dolomite-inspired drivel on the various topics discussed here doesn't cast him in a good light, so he's strategically fallen back to his safe place, limiting his comments to commenting about the other commenters.
