Maybe they are talking about it because it is insane and dangerous and they want people to know that it is a terrible idea that should not be done.

You don't agree?

I haven't seen anyone posting tweets celebrating unvaccinated black people dying. Have you?
Have you seen any unvaccinated black people publicly urging others to not get vaccinated?

I disagree. I think they are talking about it to make it seem like it is a bigger problem than it truly is so that your side keeps thinking the other side is ignorant.

There aren't 10s of thousands of people doing this. It is a few dozen, maybe a few hundred instances.

99.99999% of our population doesn't need to see a tweet to know not to take animal medications.

Yes I have. Just because they don't throw them on CNN to announce it to the world (nor should they) doesn't mean it isn't happening on a smaller scale at local levels or on social media.

And older generations of black people are very skeptical of vaccines and rightfully so. They don't deserve to be called malign or ignorant for that.

I don't need CNN to convince me that some people are idiots. There is ample data out there that has already convinced me.

But you assume it is that no matter what.

And you have no clue how many people are out there taking ivermectin and it is based solely off of the number of media reports you have seen of it. You are just assuming.

That small part about how vaccinated people might spread it just as easily as unvaccinated? Ya everyone overlooks that it seems like.

The people thinking we had a chance to make this "go away" are being unrealistic (especially if they weren't vocally in support of extreme lockdowns with no exceptions). We may eventually get there, but it will take a decade or two, but that's probably a bit optimistic. More likely this circulates around the world forever. We learn to treat it better. Vaccinated people usually don't die and more and more continue to get vaccinated/re vaccinated. Maybe we get lucky and the virus gets weaker over time and this becomes even less deadly (for healthy people) than it already is.
You cannot spread it if you don’t have it. Again, look at the numbers. The vaccine works.
From what I understand, data is still coming in, but so far it seems true that those vaccinated that have a breakthrough infection can carry a viral load similar to the non-vaccinated who are infected. But, breakthrough infections (infected with SARS-COV-2) are still rare for the vaccinated and breakthrough disease (COVID-19) are even rarer for the vaccinated.

So, it is still making a jump to a conclusion that the vaccinated are out there spreading it at the same rate--the data seem to suggest the vaccine is lessening the spread, but not eliminating it (which, I don't think that was ever promised). And, while the entire thing has obviously evolved, it seems the major issue in the US for at least the last 6 months has been the load on the healthcare system and, lately, the rising number of deaths. Both things that the vaccine is extremely effective at helping prevent.
The most important, and sadly often ignored, aspect of Covid19 is how quickly it spreads. I don't think people really understand how much a minor reduction in infectivity can have.

I think the R0 for the delta variant is about 6. So that means that you have 1 sick person, then 6, then 36, then 216, then 1,296 and so on. If being vaccinated and wearing masks brings that number down to 1, the virus basically flatlines, it doesn't go away, but you no longer have an epidemic.

I'm not sure about the infectivity numbers, but these are in the ballpark. Even if the R0 is 5 and vaccinations bring it down to 2 it has a HUGE benefit to things like hospital burden and things like that, even though it seems small and we have to go "yeah, but even the vaccinated can get it and spread it". If it's happening less frequently that makes a big difference. And that's without accounting for the fact that vaccination makes you less sick and less apt to need a hospital and less likely to die.

If the number drops below 1 for vaccines and masking, the numbers would drop.

There's really no good argument against vaccines for everyone who is approved and able to receive them.

But there is a much larger number than that that want Ivermectin to be used clinically to treat Covid19, even though the evidence is it didn't make a difference. A lot of people who were anti-vax were saying, that Ivermectin was a cure for Covid19, so there's no reason get vaccinated.

The people who are taking veterinary grade ivermectin is a small number but the people insisting that there's a medical conspiracy to not use it as a treatment even though it works, are large.

Thanks. That is a way more competent way of saying what I thought was the case.

It's also weird that it was forgotten so soon. Early on when the "it's just the flu" rhetoric was quickly dismissed, it was largely because of how contagious it was. This requires only an elementary understanding of contagion.

People are really good at intuitive math involving themselves ("As a healthy person, I have a 1/2000 chance of dying if I get Covid, that's not worrisome"), but very bad at intuitive math involving populations (if 20,000,000 healthy people get Covid, holy shit that's ten thousand healthy people falling over dead, that's really terrible).

The State of Mississippi had to recently send out a warning about ivermectin after 70% of the calls to their poison control hotline were due to ivermectin ingestion by people self-treating against covid. That's just in one state.

If you think that this is only happening in a few dozen cases then you are a fool.

Stop with the same ignorant assumption that this is 100% exclusively due to "teams". It's childish and unproductive to continue to regurgitate the same lie over and over.

What I have a problem with is people who are lying about their reason to not get vaccinated, trying to make this an argument about their "rights" when it's really just about the lies they have chosen to believe and their desire to not be told what to do. The fact that the vast majority of people who are lying about their reasoning also happen to vote Republican is irrelevant. If a Dem lies to me about their reasoning then I have a problem with them as well.
