My FF:
Kansas
Duke
Maryland
Houston
Commenting only to say: please, PLEASE, if there is a god, I will get to watch 34 minutes of Garrett on Grimes.
You won't.
Garrett generally guards the other team's best perimeter player.
I hope Bill would make an exception in this case. I'd very much enjoy something like 34 minutes, 2-9 shooting, 4 TOs.

Grimes has a family MJL. My goodness.

That stat line makes Grimes seem more aggressive than I remember him being.
I'd go 34 minutes, 0-2, 0 reb, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 2 TOs.

I don't have any bad feelings towards Grimes. I think moving on was best for all involved. He always seemed like a nice kid. As per usual, handlers/family members who can't keep their mouthes shut/off social media can really impact how our fan base feels about a guy who really did nothing wrong other than struggle like most freshman do. Our players certainly didn't/don't dislike him personally, so that leads me to believe he wasn't a locker room issue.

If there weren't bad feelings toward him, why would you think moving on was best for him?

I don't really know how to answer that...
Because:
-Maybe he wanted to be a primary facilitator and we already have Dotson and Garrett?
-Maybe he wanted to be closer to home?
-Maybe he didn't like the cold winters in Lawrence?
I could keep going, but I won't.
There are numerous legitimate reasons for why he could have wanted to leave and why that choice may have been better for him and his happiness.
My main point: I don't have bad feelings towards grimes and I don't understand why others hold grudges against players who transfer....in this case, he didn't do or say anything that warrants bad feelings.

It's a year where you put maybe a single 1 seed in the FF. No more than 2.
Solid post.

Yes, there are numerous reasons. Almost all of them involve bad feelings for at least one party.
I don't think you transfer out in the manner he did, considering the type of recruit he was, history with Self, etc. if there aren't bad feelings.
Sorry, but your notion that he just woke up on a Tuesday and thought he'd be better off in Houston doesn't make any sense.

Grimes didn't move on, KU did.
Which doesn't happen if Grimes is the model student athlete.
Bridges were burned.

Yep, a lot of bad feelings. It was apparent on the court, too.

KU went out of its way to help Grimes become eligible for this season.
Part of that was being upfront that he was no longer welcome here.
He's easily the least likable OAD we've had.

I like to think that Cliff was a sad tale of being a pawn with no knowledge.

A player deciding he didn't like playing for Self isn't a reason to cheer against a college athlete, imo.
Self deciding he didn't like dealing with said players handlers and deciding to move on also isn't a reason to cheer against a college athlete, imo.
None of us really know what bridges were burned...all I know is many of our main players still have regular interactions on social media that are always positive/well wishes.

Grimes and company blamed KU for his failures.
He couldn't cut it and quit ( whether he just gave up on KU during the season or after ).
There's no reason for me to like him or cheer for him.
As much as I'd like Garrett to shut him down, I think it'd be more appropriate for the local kid who had to burn his shirt to do so.

In all the scenarios referenced, it was in a situation where we were playing against them.
I cheer against every player that plays against KU. I always want them to loose. He'd be no exception.
Get off your high horse. No one wanted him to break his leg crossing the street or anything. They wanted Garrett to shut him down in a hypothetical matchup.

Well,to be fair, Garrett might break grimes leg crossing him up.....or, at least he'd marcus smart that for the next few posessions.
