Hell yes.

This shit has been going on for my entire life.

So fake news?

All these articles I can link are just made up and that phone call and quote never actually was said by KT?

Do you really believe that?

I just went car shopping. Told the salesman I wanted self parking feature at the same price as without. He told me that if that’s what it takes, he will needs to figure out how. He didn’t come through. I went to another dealership.

What part of that was immoral or illegal?

Ok.

So we're on the same page...

I think I understand your perspective better now.

None of it.

I'm not trying to bad mouth KT. Even though he's got a long history of shady recruiting allegations...I don't think it's wrong or uncommon.

I'm just saying that the phone call type stuff may be playing a role in why we are being OVERLY cautious with SDS.

I'm with CnB on the "prove it" stance.

But I'm also with the stance that we should hold SDS out until we are told it's okay not to....which may never happen.

It sucks for SDS more than it does for KU. He's the real victim. But it's the price you pay to play the "game". SDS is collateral damage in a giant waste of tax payer money and govt resources.

Nothing has really changed in the last few decades. It's a story now because the goddamn feds got bored and decided play around with their budget and try out something sexy. Now people are going to jail for doing what's always been done. With a public trial, now the NCAA is worried that the apple cart just got tipped over.

The collateral damage? Silvio de Sousa. A kid from Angola that went to the US to try and make something of his life.

The same evidence was not presented against Zion/Duke as SDS/KU...but we've gone over that and some people don't want to admit that. (Just because we're all pretty sure/positive Zion did things against the rules, doesn't mean that similar evidence was presented. It wasn't. The only evidence related to Zion was directly related to Kansas staff... not Dukes, not Zions parents)

SDS is out because Self is holding him out. If Self thinks the allegations are true then his job is to hold him out regardless of if the ncaa has officially declared him ineligible.
It's all the same. Bunch of he-said she-said.

The only direct hard evidence that was revealed relating to a Kansas player was connected to Josh Jackson's mother.
It's not all the same. There is literally nothing on Zion other than a text from a KU coach saying he'd break rules to get him....while talking to a guy who admitted under oath to paying players to attend Adidas schools.

Where's the Nike guy or Duke coach admitting to giving Zion the stuff KT said he'd give him?
KT did not do that. But yeah, you'll spin whatever you can to shit on the program as usual

I’m not accusing you of bad mouthing KT. Of the very small majority of fans following this nonsense, many of them say KT should be fired or fall on the sword for that conversation. It’s the most straightforward part of all of this. That’s his job as a highly competitive recruiter. If anything, the fact we didn’t get it figured out, should be giving the opposite notion. Fans and journalists pointing to the quote as incriminating are simply letting their fears or imagination run reality. Reality is that conversation is simply reaching to connect other unrealated dots to create a narrative of widespread behavior that the FBI didn’t have evidence of. Behavior that has been a joke and standard under the NCAA watch its entire existence. Sure it doesn’t look good given the “scandal”, but it doesn’t change the fact Silvio is a college athlete who was cleared by the NCAA and has since been accused of an online class jeapardizing eligibility to play basketball. And those whose job it is to sort these things out, have seemingly done nothing of that job.

Nobody is shitting on the program. You have a selective memory if you think I shit on our program "as usual"

It's been posted above, but here are the quotes again since you jumped in too:

“Hey, but between me and you, he asked about some stuff … I know what he’s asking for,” Code said, per Wetzel. “He’s asking for opportunities from an occupational perspective, he’s asking for cash in the pocket and he’s asking for housing for him and his family.”

“I’ve got to just try to work and figure out a way because if that’s what it takes to get him here for 10 months, we’re going to have to do it some way,” Townsend responded.

JFC man

It literally says after my comment "or something along those lines"....and that's "something along those lines".

Nobody is shitting on KU. For fucks sake I've said the players deserve the improper benefits in the first place. No need to grab the pitch forks.

I think you can be a fan. But calling it "our program" is a bit much.
Would you disagree that an alum would have more claim to that status?

I would disagree.

Alum means you attended a single class. These days that means online as well.

No I don’t see that changing status. He has more knowledge and game attendance than my sister who has a Masters from KU.

While it “could” mean more for those who are interested in the program, it certainly is no rule as you are imposing.

Chiefs are in the playoffs this weekend. Are “we” going to win?

We have a difference of opinion, NBD.

I often say "we" when describing the Jayhawks. I spent 4 years there. Just under 10% of my life. I get a warm feeling to this day driving down Mass....driving through campus.

I have never said "we" when referencing the Chiefs. I have been a Chiefs fan for 45 years.

Now I’m confused. What does driving on Mass St have anything to do with being a fan of “our basketball program”

I have been on campus for 30+ years. I get those feelings about my time at KU.

But I also have season tickets with a gentleman who has never attended a single class. Doesn’t work for KU. But he was used to hire Coach Self. Lew Perkins. BGL. Jeff Long and Les Miles.

Is he not closer to the program than you?

Your rule makes little to no sense for people like him. Or any Lawrence local for that matter. You are simply trying to bully Illinois like every thread and post.

I think any KU fan who has more than just a "they are really good and I like to cheer for really good teams" tie to the school gets to use "we". You dont have to attend the school to be tied to it.

My family and I are also Chiefs fans but my parents didnt meet at a Chiefs game; they met at KU. When I go to Lawrence, it is in part to attend games and in part to be tied to my family, members of whom attended school there all the way back to the early 1900s. So while life prevented me from attending KU, I have zero problem saying "we".

It's like trying to define "Blue Blood programs". Everyone has a little different criteria. So be it.
