WTF is wrong with the MAGA crowd? If someone who is vehemently anti Trump says that ebola tainted blood is bad for you then they will shoot themselves up with it!
Pretty soon rodeo is the only ‘sport’ they will watch on TV
I don’t know about that, considering how the Brazilians dominate bull riding these days. ‘Cause
brown people!

WTF is wrong with Rodeo?
First and foremost, the uniform.
Second Marvin and Mark Garrett are huge assholes.
Third, post event interviews
Fourth, any events that are judged are not a sport by my definition of a sport.
Fifth too long, too boring, too hot, and smell like shit.
Sixth, the way anyone who says bull riders overemphasizes both 'r's in riders like they're doing a sam elliot impression
Seventh, not sure if I mentioned this or not, wrangler jeans, cowboy hats, and Giant belt buckles.
1.Uniform is great
2. Point granted. But jim sharp and lane frost make up for them
3. True for any sport
4. So you must like the bulldoggin, and ropin events
5. Disagree. Although usually is hot. Smells terrific. Love the smell of rodeo.
6. Ehh. Maybe
7. Wranglers and cowboy hats are great. Buckles I could take or leave. The thing I dont like is when guys wear random huge buckles. If you're gonna sport the buckle you damn well better have won it not bought it.

1 & 7) Cowboy hats are great for protection from the sun, etc...they're functionally great. Rodeo guys wear them the same way that rich housewives wear handbags. If you're event lasts 8 seconds, you don't need protection from the sun...you'd be better off getting protection from the bull and wearing a helmet and facemask.
If you're wearing jeans, it's not a sport, Rule #83. And wrangler jeans are essentially the original skinny jean.
A buckle is basically jewelry. If I won a championship ring in basketball, it'd be cool, I might have it on display in my home, but I'd almost never wear it. The same approach should be taken with a buckle that's been won.
4) no, I don't like any of the events. But, they would be closer to being considered a sport. bull riding, bareback, diving, gymnastics, etc. all are judged. I prefer objective scoring.

I at least like the rodeo in town here cuz they have good bbq and cheap coorses, especially by sporting event standards.

A lot of people go full Sam Elliott when they say 'Coors' too.

Perhaps I'm not fully understanding the issue as I havent spent much thought on it. But, what is the big deal? That WAS our flag when we gained independence correct? Why are we not allowed to celebrate that? Because oppression and slavery existed? Are we supposed to forget the first 80 years of our country and not celebrate any of the good that happened during that time?
Who is not allowing anyone else to "celebrate" our flag?
Nike pulled their shoe with the flag due to the outcry. My question is why is there an outcry?
False. There was no outcry. Nike pulled it after Kaepernick privately pointed out that some folks consider that Betsy Ross flag to represent a time in our nation's history where residents of our nation were slaves and treated as property to be owned.

So the first 80 years. We are not supposed to celebrate the creation of our nation and the declaration of our independence. Ok.

There was an outcry, it made national news, that's an outcry.

The outcry was after Nike's decision. It did not cause Nike's decision.

Our citizens just need to be aware that not all points on our nation were as celebratory to others as they were to us. Much of my ancestral line has been in this country owning land, going to school and enjoying the full legal benefits of being a white male since before this nation was a nation. Not everyone has that same ancestral history.
In general, we seem to have an inability to see things from the perspective of others these days.

Excellent example. There have been differing viewpoints on Mt. Rushmore since the day it was built. Native Americans certainly have a different opinion of the relevance and meaning of Mt. Rushmore than the masses of white tourist who go visit it.

We all know what we are, the only question is price:
Arizona Gov. Ducey has change of heart for Nike following Betsy Ross flag controversy
Ducey previously tweeted in regard to Nike that "we don't need to suck up to companies that consciously denigrate our nation's history." Now he's saying, "welcome."

Well I’m rolling down Rodeo with a shotgun, these people ain’t seen a brown skinned man since their grandparents bought one...
Ever since this thread mentioned rodeo, I’ve had that cheesy Garth Brooks song stuck in my noggin.
So I was gonna post the lyrics, but ended up coming across that Rage song instead, go figure

it's bulls and blood
It's dust and mud
It's the roar of a Sunday crowd
It's the white in his knuckles
The gold in the buckle
He'll win the next go 'round
It's boots and chaps
It's cowboy hats
It's spurs and latigo
It's the ropes and reins the joy and the pain and the call the thing rodeo
Cheesy? Comeon. it's no chris ledoux but it's not bad. Not nearly as awful as most new music (of any genre but particularly what they're calling "country" now)
