Have we even had 5 disappointing high level recruits? Shelby was disappointing due to injury. Cliff was disappointing due to his family decisions and lack of intelligence. Diallo was raw so anyone thinking we'd get a bunch from him were unrealistic.

Grimes easily tops the list for me. A top 10 recruit who was given every opportunity to develop and excel and just flat out wasn't skilled enough to be what was needed from his role on the team.

I'm basing it on that every scout named what his weaknesses were before he even stepped foot on campus. Even knowing these weaknesses, fans are upset he wasn't great in those areas. That's on those fans for expecting him to be good at something they knew he wasn't good at.

Huh?

Grimes's knock coming in was that he wasn't a good shooter. The scout on him was that he was a athletic and physical combo guard that could attack the paint at will, was good in transition, and had a mature game.

He was soft and had no feel for the game and was fat and did he dunk more than once?

Easily the top of the list for most disappointing.

McCormack was a McDonald's AA coming in and he couldn't even crack the rotation on an extremely thin frontline until Dok got hurt and he was thrown in out of necessity. Don't see much crying about him being a disappointing bust.

Exactly. And there were plenty of fans complaining how he wasn't shooting well.

He showed flashes of that physical guard who would attack the paint at will, but granted that was when he was matched up with smaller guards. I agree that he wasn't even close to what I had expectations for prior to the season, but it's not enough to say he's easily the top of the list for most disappointing. Not when guys like Carlton Bragg, Cliff Alexander, Micah Downs, Sam Cunliffe (can we count him?), etc are on the same list.

Because they didn't come in with the same hype McCormack can't be labeled as a disappointment? Hype or not, a Burger Boy isn't expected to come in and play the majority of his minutes with the walk-ons in scrub time.

In my original, I only considered OAD talent and/or guys that everyone thought would come in and play a lot right away.

Bragg is borderline. Cunliffe, absolutely not.

Given how it played out and then ended w/ Grimes, it's the worst.

McCormack was a top 40 recruit, we're not talking about the same level of guys. Selby, Cheick, Cliff, Grimes, Wiggs--top 15ish. A guy that you don't even consider playing beyond a year.

McCormack's story is just being written. Was a 3-4 year player from the beginning.

A lot of these guys are busts if you only count their freshman year. Of course if we're judging guys that only stick around one year, they will look like busts most of the time.

Depends on what you consider high level.
For me 'high level' probably means ranked 15th nationally or up.
He's top 5 for sure if that's the criteria.

Self recruits ( doesn't include Padgett )
https://247sports.com/college/kansas/Sp ... eRecruits/

Wiggins, Joshy, Selby, Cliff, Xavier, Diallo, Oubre, Wright, Grimes, Selden, Arthur, Chalmers, Collins?
He's top 3 of those.
I'd say top 1.

Cascadia would say top 2, behind Collins.

Mason. Pierce. Collison.

No particular order for those 3 guys since Manning.
