Food is about texture as well.

Not sure anything in the food world does a better job of that then beef tenderloin whether as a steak or a roast.

Oh, and I didn't mention brisket, beef is so good in so many different ways.

Lamb is really good.

I've had lamb tacos that were pretty amazing.

there is a reason you call it picadillo and not ground beef, though...which is the whole point

surprised nobody has mentioned potato tacos (likely more authentic in the general sense than ground beef)

Tenderloin is boring, but texturally it’s awesome, and so many flavors can be combined with it and they are all good.

Sure, smear it with duxelles, top it with pate de foie gras, wrap it butter loaded puff pastry then serve it with bordelaise, some duchess potatoes and veggies with bearnaise and it's pretty allsome.

Theyre good, but too often there is way too much bread.

On the subject of tacos. What about indian tacos. Mmm fry bread is delicious.

^^^

Not to mention, why would you eat bread when you could have a crispy corn taco shell instead?

They like tacos and stuff at home, but don't like them out for some reason because they are too stubborn to believe me when I say they're better at the restaurant. But not worth the battle if they'll just sit politely and let me eat my enchiladas.
How'd it go? Were you able to steer them away from honky food and into Latin?

I don't need anything to motivate me to crave Mexican food, i.e., tacos, but I'm not sayin' this thread didn't play at least some part in where I decided to have lunch.

3 year old skipped nap and wasn't feeling good....so Mexican (tenders and fries) turned into PBJs and him going to bed at 5:30ish, while me and the older 1 hung out coloring and finishing her valentines for school tomorrow (which will probably be cancelled again 😣).

Ahh kids. Planning while parenting is ALWAYS a crap shoot.

Holding out hope for tomorrow now. Wife never argues about going out for Mexican, and I won't be out numbered by the kids so that's a bonus. Here's to hopin'.

Been meaning when to bring this to the thread:

¡Tamales!

so this local abuelita delivers them to your door. $20 bucks a dozen.

The choices are chicken, beef, pork, cheese and jalapeños, beef and jalapeños, cheese and bean, and veggie.

With bonus dessert flavors! Pineapple coconut, cinnamon, and strawberry.

This is like, the best thing ever, right?

assuming they don’t make me shit my britches...
