Ugghhhh!

I swear I want this thread to go away but ughhhh.

So I stop by work to drop off some stuff and pick some other stuff up. Everyone is pleasant, and the general reception is, damn ousdahl it’s a dirty shame you got fired.

Then I talk to a friend and fishing buddy and former coworker, who has basically jumped in and tried to assume the lead on the fly fishing operations in my absence.

The coworker says, “yeah it sounds like we’re gonna finally be able to implement all those big ideas you wanted for the operation. It was just that the assistant GM just didn’t want to let you be the one to do it.”

I mean, I'm really not the type to just go write letters and complain just cuz.

but, see why I might feel tempted to do so?

Go work for a competitor, cut your rates, implement your plans, and steal business.

Better yet, start your own business do what leawood suggests and take more profit home...

But that's advice I havent pulled the trigger on for myself either. Hard to jump away from steady income at the moment. But, if you're already unemployed and single now would be the time to take risks.

Better pay?

same pay.

they're checking with HR to confirm details, and we're chatting again Monday. If I get the same pay and keep my benefits just for doing different shit then why shouldn't I? I need to look into unemployment, but I dunno how that could match it. Unemployment is just a fraction of what you previously made, right?

my last position was actually marketing, though it often also involved a lot of de facto guest service. This would be HOA maintenance, which isn't as dependent on tourist traffic, so it's not going away like most of the other jobs up here.

Make a professional wage with benefits to shovel snow and paint and mow grass and shit, and not have to work at a desk or deal so much with y'all? yes please.

Before Covid 19, yeah, and I know for at least my state, it was only like $500 a week max. Based on a percentage of your previous income. I also think it's taxable (but can't remember). But I know that many states are expediting claims and increasing benefits to those laid off because of CV.

Yes, it's taxable
