Long story short, would you believe me if I told you I’m at a karaoke bar in Branson right now?
Yea I know.
Let that sink in.
Yea that Branson.
LOL!
Anywho so my songs went as follows:
Chili peppers: give it away. Nailed every single word.
Tequila: best karaoke song ever cuz it’s only one word plus pee wee dancing.
Truckin: didn’t expect but of course this was the hit. Didn’t expect but here we are. Some local Branson strange heard it and now won’t stop bringing buckets of Bud Lite. Says her name is Althea.
I told Althea I was feeling looost…and also she’s full of shit, no way your name is really Althea.
But then she gets up and sings some Cardi B, some diddy along the lines of “W.A.P.”
and long story short this night suddenly way more way more than your average one more Saturday night at Silver Dollar City.

man so out running errands with mom.
She leaves me in the car and runs into some store. I use the chance to switch the tuner from Fox News radio to the Dead station. She comes back to this delicious friend of the devil, a slow acoustic one.
She comments, “thank you for finally finding a station with some good music.”
Holy shit!
This Sirius XM is doing wonders for the family dynamic.
There are a handful of tracks from this box set available on Spotify. Pretty damn tasty

Speaking of The Kid...This is an absolute heater
"Since its debut in 1980, “Feel Like A Stranger” offered the Grateful Dead another song with plenty of room internally to stretch out. By a year into its life, the song often went to nearly 10 minutes, and often opened shows. This rendition from March 9, 1981 is driven with the controlled chaos that is the Grateful Dead at their best." –David Lemieux

So a buddy asked me to recommend some good live Dead shows to check out…whaddya got?
I said skull and roses, Cornell 5/8/77, pretty much anything from the 70s. And “Live Dead” to get a taste of the late 60s vibe.

Funny you should ask and say the Cornell show! Actually, it's not really funny. That's a figure of speech.
Many hard core Dead Heads seem to agree with you on the Cornell show.
I assume many of those same people will tell you a Winterland show in 1977.
A maybe too popular favorite is the 3/29/90 Nassau show. That's the one with Brandford Marsalis playing Eyes, Estimated, and others with them.
I can't remember all the set lists but I enjoyed all (probably between 15 and 20?) the Alpine Valley shows I attended. Who would think a venue in fricking Wisconsin at a ski "resort" (more like a bunny hill - at best - with a crappy hotel) would be considered of of the top venues in the USA that they played at?

Can't remember the exact date, but Boston, December 1973 is one of my favs.
1977 was a very good year.

Harpur College, Binghampton 1970
Fillmore East 2.14.70
Veneta 1972
Tampa, Curtis Hixon 1973
Boston Garden 12.2.73 (think that's the show you're thinking of 99)
SF, Great American Music Hall 8.13.75
Pretty much anything from Europe 72, early- mid 80's with Brent...and the list goes on and on

I've shared this before but just listened to it again.
The 3:58 to about 7 minute mark will always be 3 of my favorite minutes I have seen this band perform.

Oh!
So my birthday’s coming up in a couple weeks
Can’t decide whether to stick around the mountains and compete in ski races that weekend, or go down to Denver for Dark Star Orchestra
Might do both!
But also kinda depends on how the covered wagon challenge goes
