I mean, college athletics has always been the minor leagues. They've been run as pro sports teams. Look at the facilities and the amenities (dorm, food, training tables, locker rooms and more)

We've done this dance in F the NCAA BUT:

People like to say "ITS ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THAT" and there is some truth to that, however:
a. I don't have an issue with facilities being state of the art. It's like a top notch school in physics having the state of the art physics lab. That's something that future students of that program will use to better themselves. It's providing the ultimate environment to learn the very best. That's what a University is supposed to do. And the best students of these programs get scholarships that go along with amenities as well.
b. Student athletes haven't always been paid big bucks. We've gone over this. Roi's players at Kansas have said as much.

Someone connected Ledlum to KU, but it might have been wishful thinking. Honestly don't remember the site.

Spokane is 1,203 miles from Los Angeles. Lawrence, KS is 1,583 from L.A. Doesn't look like he moved that much closer to home. Maybe the homesick excuse wasn't accurate.

It was mentioned in an article that I saw from Mike Vernon. https://www.kuhearings.com/p/hearing-ma ... leaving-ku

Taken with a grain of salt, I guess.
