If this season doesn't get turned around, and I don't think it will, please don't go into next year with Grimes as your OC again. Please.

I feel like that is different than firing someone less than 2 months into their time somewhere.

Will firing the OC make of the offensive line and defensive line better? Play calling is only a portion of the problem.
Granted. But are you saying that, if you can't immediately solve 100% of the problem, you should address 0% of the problem, then?
Absolutely not. But I think adjusting the play calling is a better idea than replacing the OC without a plan to replace him with someone better.

I think the problems this season are as much on the head coach as they are the offensive coordinator.

Agreed. We should, in theory, be able to replace him with someone better this off season.

Why not go offer our former OC head coach type money and bring him back?

Because Penn State would do the same and it's a better program.

Did he take a sub-coordinator assistant with him? That would be re-poachable as our OC?

I don’t believe so

Alright ok so.....we lost AK to Penn State, and he took off before the bowl game. We went out for some reason and hired Grimes. However we actually let Co-OC Jm Zebrowski call the plays for our bowl game ly.

Now our offensive looked the same for the bowl game. We were told Grimes was going to take over play calling but he was supposed keep everything pretty much the same.

So Coach Z is sitting there and has been with LL since Buffalo.

Why LL went with Grimes?? No clue

It was an uncharacteristic and unneeded reach hiring him. I saw his last season pretty close up at Baylor. Brutal. Predictable play calling.

Another week with the same personnel and the same stupid strategies. Dare we hope for a different outcome?

Meanwhile, we’ll run a bubble screen on 3rd and 9 at least four times in a row tonight. Brilliant.

Until Grimey is gone, I am done. This is egregious, and LL’s choice to stand by, shrugging his shoulders, blaming the refs, and offering comfort in the form of “We’re really close to not being garbage” is inexcusable.

Can't hang this one on Grimes. Defense has given up 105 pts. in the last 3 games and 313 yds rushing in this one. Time for a fire Borland thread.

Yeah except Borland has been this bad since the get go, where you been??? Borland was the WTF coach that came with the Division 3 Wizard that for sure was over his head. This was true day one. Wait to next year when the whole defense is gone. We going to have brand new stadium and for sure no reason to go. You will look back at this season and lament how we were just barely losing games versus the future where we done at half time.

At least Grimes showed some improved play calling this week. Same old song and dance from Borland.

Borland and the Arkansas game was a tell. We all blamed players. But they did not get meaningful stops

So um.
Like.
If a team is blitzing 7 or 8, like, do you just send 4 WRs for long out routes?
