Even with the Hosmer contract, which sure looks like a stinker.

Godalmighty will the Royals rue that Strahm/Ruiz for Cahill/Maurer/Buchter deal. Yikes.

Man, that is still tough to look at. I got it at the time, but Strahm and possibly Ruiz will do great things for the Padres. Strahm had his best professional season last year for them.

Especially in about 2021, when I think the Royals have a chance to be pretty good again when their young guys come up.

I mean... His yearly salary is still less than Machado.

But man he'll be on their team until he is 40 if he wants. He has a full no-trade clause. No opt out ability either. He's there if he wants to be.

Were I a Phillies fan, I'd have rather sign Harper for like 5/$200 than this. It's just money, but we've seen enough of the owners' playbook at this point to do anything but assume they'll cry poor from like 2028-2032 over having to pay this money.

Fun note. When Harper gets last contract from Philly, Bobby still getting paid for like 5 more years after that.

I saw that yesterday and was amazed. That's insane.

Sounds like Salvy's done for the year. Good start.

2 summers in a row: Sporting KC the hottest ticket in town.

Gross...

I actually had high hopes for this team. Something like 77-85 at the absolute best.

Now, with Duffy's shoulder acting up as well. Thinking 60-102 is more likely.

Should have traded Salvy after the 2017 season

Hindsight, sure.

But I also think he is one of the only reasons that Royals fans watched any games last year. His personality, talent behind the plate and that he is one of the main holdovers from the 2015 squad meant something.

I like Vilorio and believe he has a lot of upside this year. I also see Schwindel is going back to catching. I honestly don't think Salvy's loss in 2019 was a big deal--his double play potential killed a lot of rallies.
