Snowmobiling is, by a very very wide margin, my favorite recreational activity/pursuit/hobby.

I do hope this event will encourage us to resume building nuclear power plants.

We got an email from work last night. It said the campus would be open and you're welcome to come in. However, the thermostats will be set to 60 in order to conserve electricity.

It's amazing. I've never done anything that just shuts everything else off to the same degree.

It’s like jet skiing but on a mountain!

And/or a frozen lake and/or on backwoods and farm country trails. With places to go, and things to do.

It is significantly more fun than jet skiing.

After you've been on a jet ski for ten minutes, you've done pretty much everything there is to do on a jet ski. One of the most overrated recreational activities there is.

Yea i hear its awesome and addictive. Ive just always had other needs to spend the money on. When i move higher into the hills i might have to give it a go. By the time you buy the sled and the sled deck its a pricey endeavor. I got a buddy with 4 of them ive just never had the time to do it.

I have run a short trail with sled dogs. Thats a blast. And feels like your travelling back in time with each stride of the team.

It is very expensive. And you're lucky to go more than one season in a row without having to fix something.

One winter, when I was maybe 20, I had a snowmobile out going 95 or so on a frozen lake in Minnesota. Not much snow at all, great visibility, no ice houses yet (not enough ice for trucks).

That is, until, the damn thing just up and stopped in the dang middle of the lake, about a half-mile from shore.

It turns out, that this particular machine is cooled by snow; snow gets sucked up in the course of, you know, snowmobiling. And that snow cools the engine and various other moving parts.

Having no snow to suck up on the pretty bare frozen lake, I torched the shit out of some belt, causing the machine to become inoperable.

It was a long walk.

My landlord randomly showed up a couple winters back with a trailer full of snowmobiles.

Double parks them in the spaces next to the garage, so we loose parking spaces and have to park in the street when renters show up with like 8 SUVs among yall’s party of 7.

But my point is, in 3 winters since getting them, I’m not sure the trailer has moved 3 times, so be aware of that too.

Tire completely flat this morning. Can't even get it to a gas station to fill up with air. Insurance company is so backed up with towing requests because of slide offs, rolled vehicles and all that.. Just bought my car 8 days ago. Dealership paying for the towing fee because it's only been a week in my hands.

But this shit be wild.

Question for our Texas homies:

Is it true that no one down there owns a shovel so y’all are just shooting the snow?

news said we’ve got the highest avalanche warning in the nation right now. 6 dead already this year, and authorities are advising no back-country skiing or snowmobiling.

i know this weather sucks for some of you, but i’m grateful...have been dreading fire season since we’re so far below “normal” precipitation levels.
You know shoveling is a waste of time When it’s gonna melt anyway.

you’re either a) not married, or b) an asshole who won’t lift a finger to shovel snow or scrape the windshield for your wife
