Obviously there is a difference between literally resting guys and not playing guys because you don't want them to MAYBE get injured.
I am assuming it's a good thing the Chiefs will have an extra week to rest - but the flip side is if you rest guys this week - do you want a team with a 10-11 game win streak to have players not play for 20 or so days?
Can you tell I am conflicted?
To seriously answer your post, the chiefs are pretty banged up. Fisher been battling an injury, Hill has been fighting a tight hamstring for a few weeks now, Kelce had a weird roll up yesterday, sat out for a play and then came on strong, The LB core is out with injuries or Covid and Bell has been nicked up a bit as well the last couple of weeks. To top it off, their All Pro RT has been out for last half of season with a bad back and he likely won’t come back.
They need to get healthy.

I think the balance of things suggests you shut everyone down next week. You're not playing for anything. I don't buy that this particular group would have continuity/rust issues.

As Andy said today. They're not going to forget plays. And they showed no rust the first game of the year, back when the Texans were supposed to be good. lol

Right. There are circumstances in which I'd feel differently, even with seeding locked. For instance, going for 16-0, or working some guy back in after a long injury absence.
But here? No. Not with this group, and the abbreviated offseason, and having played 19 games last year too.
Let them rest.

Chiefs officially resting Mahomes.
I'm curious what the line will be with so many Chiefs sitting?
I'd bet it would have been KC - 10 but now probably is closer to KC - 1?

They'll probably be dogs. The Chargers will play everybody.

First line I've seen is Chargers -3.5. Which is about right in my eyes. Chiefs probably won't play 6-7 starters. Mahomes won't even be active. My guess is Kelce and Hill won't be either.

Chargers are down Keenan Allen.
-3.5 seems like a lot - but like you said, if its no Mahomes, CEH ( injury ), Kelce, Hill, Watkins, Honey Badger, Chris Jones, Eric Fisher - then I guess that makes sense.

Yeah. Just wild because I remember back in 2013. Reid's first year in KC. They had a playoff spot wrapped up and they sat Smith, Charles, Bowe, Powe, Derrick Johnson and many others. Meanwhile, Chargers were still fighting for the 6 seed and played allllll their guys and they beat KC at home on a FG in OT.
So ya never know, and the Chiefs could win, I just wouldn't bet on them being closer than a FG loss or win. I just like Herbert a lot and think he tore up KC in the first matchup and might do more of the same Sunday.

Build your week 17 Chiefs team - budget 10 dollars - max 5 players:
Henne - $5
Mecole Hardman - $4
Demarcus Robinson - $3
Darrell Williams - $3
Darwin Thompson -$3
Leveon Bell - $2
Byron Pringle - $2
Nick Keizer - $1
Deon Yelder - $1
Anthony Sherman - $1
Marcus Kemp - $1
4 points throwing TD.
6 points receiving, rushing TD.
10 points per rushing, receiving yds.
25 points per throwing yds.
No PPR.

If Matt Moore can do well by being thrown into the mix after a few weeks of practice last year, I think Henne can do very well. Give me...
Henne - 5
Williams - 3
Pringle - 2

I'll do:
Robinson - 3
Thompson - 3
Pringle - 2
Yelder - 1
Sherman - 1
Betting on a sausage score.

Of the AFC teams here is who I'd most want to see first in order:
1. Cleveland ( not a good defense, Mayfield's not a threat )
2. Miami ( we handled them earlier, a good defense but meh receiving core and unstable QB situation )
3. Colts ( solid defense, Rivers starting to click )
4. Tennessee ( we handled their run game last season, Tanehill has gotten better. Defense is bad )
5. Steelers ( defense good but busted, Big Ben may be hurt )
6. Ravens ( just a gut feeling here to put them over TEN and PIT. Lamar and that running game is scary. Defense is one of the better ones in the league )
7. Bills ( Allen not proven but playing some great football, also threat to run. Defense decent )

I think the Titans and Bills are clearly bigger threats to the Chiefs than anyone else in the AFC.
