Transfer portal 2022
Re: Transfer portal 2022
I will add, as I did several times in the F the NCAA thread, a majority of D1 athletes are doing it primarily for the love of the game and the value of a scholarship to a school.
Re: Transfer portal 2022
I would not be comfortable with NIL rights being asigned to the University because I do not think the Universities would pay all of it out to the players. And if they kept some for themselves I would feel like they were exploiting the players for financial gain. And I think that's exactly what they would do.
I do not think the Universities have any business in a players NIL rights. Legally or moraly.
Re: Transfer portal 2022
i would love to see into the future 4-5 years from now. to see how much the top kids can earn in their 4-5 year semiprocollegiateathleticslike career. 7? 8 figures?
Re: Transfer portal 2022
Of course I agree with you. I'm interested in the views of those who think college basketball is now dead.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 12:01 pmI would not be comfortable with NIL rights being asigned to the University because I do not think the Universities would pay all of it out to the players. i’m sure playing for a particular university does nothing to improve NIL value
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I'm sure the demographics of one's IG followers does nothing to improve the value of sponsored content.KUTradition wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 12:05 pm i’m sure playing for a particular university does nothing to improve NIL value
Re: Transfer portal 2022
Of course it does. But the players have to be invited to that school. Nobody is forcing colleges to accept these athletes with NIL aspirations. The schools control who is on their team and can change their mind at any time for any reason.KUTradition wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 12:05 pm i’m sure playing for a particular university does nothing to improve NIL value

Re: Transfer portal 2022
I think that is nearly impossible to do with so many athletes across so many very different sports landscapes. Could potentially create as many issues and it would solve.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 12:23 pmCBA time.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 12:15 pmOf course it does. Re: Transfer portal 2022
I was not all the way serious on that, but I do think courts will increasingly see student athletes as having employee rights.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 12:39 pmI think that is nearly impossible to do with so many athletes across so many very different sports landscapes. I think NIL is going to practically make much of the push for pay-for-play moot for a good period of time, and it will be awhile before we see talks of CBA('s).
Re: Transfer portal 2022
“ push for pay-for-play moot”
Because NIL is a thinly disguised version of it.
Because NIL is a thinly disguised version of it.
Re: Transfer portal 2022
On this we agree. It would have been much better for the NCAA to honestly confront the issues as presented, rather than try - AGAIN - to shove everything through dumb, ambiguous Rules.

Tell him the truth. That should in theory get him back to KU.jfish26 wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 11:17 amI mean, I'll lie to him, if that will help.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 11:16 amSame.
Wish we could get some clarity on Jalen. I don't think anyone is going to tell CB that he has no shot at the 1st Round.

Re: Transfer portal 2022
The Athletic does not have Jalen Wilson listed among its top 100 draft prospects.

To be clear, I am volunteering to lie to Christian.

He must really hate college. Or he is very impatient. He should relax and let his game develop at the college level. He isn't remotely close to NBA ready.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 1:18 pm The Athletic does not have Jalen Wilson listed among its top 100 draft prospects.

Re: Transfer portal 2022
It's fine to declare, that's not what I mean. But he's not likely to get to invited to any pre draft stuff if he's not projected top 100. So it's sort of a pointless declaration.jfish26 wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 1:38 pmHe’s doing exactly what he should be doing.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 1:22 pmHe must really hate college. Re: Transfer portal 2022
