Kind of how I feel about it. Not a big deal. Not going to hate him because of it, but something he will grow from (hopefully).
pff, he's going to be a graduate of the Labron School of AssHolyness.

the dookiness erased all the good from it
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Tatum and JJ Redick ( the modern JJ Redick ) are the only Dookies I kinda like.
Kansas was on Tatum's final list of schools.

Jay Williams is fine too. Shane Battier.

I can't think of many others.

I hated JJ for a long time. But as he's gotten older and matured I started to enjoy him.

Jay Bilas has kinda gone meh to me over the last few years.
I used to love the guy -- I still think he is the most well versed in the field -- but he's gone full in on making college sports pro as if it was the only clear option ( when it really wasn't ).
So yea, he's a meh now.

I agree there, but as far as knowledgeable commentators he's head and shoulders above most.

What other clear options were there?

Besides “making” college sports pro

The first clear option would have been to actually enforce the rules that were in place. Which they chose not to do, willingly.

Now they've got new NIL rules, that they also don't enforce.

I don't get it.

Like it or not, "enforcement" or not, the ship of (mostly) young Black men being willing to perform the labor so that universities and coaches could make multi-millions/year due to that labor while they got next to nothing in comparison, had sailed.

As much as we might not like it, the old days were already over, and they weren't and are not ever coming back.

Not saying you are wrong for feeling the way we do. We all have reasons (some valid - some not) why we like and dislike people. Jay Williams is FAR from "fine" to me. For many reasons. Most importantly, I feel he's an idiot and a douche bag.

Of the top of my head... Former Dookies I have met and feel are good guys.

Jay Bilas
Kyrie Irving
Corey Maggette
Jahlil Okafor
Carlos Boozer
Johnny Dawkins
Chris Collins

Scheyer was nice because he had to be but..... I'm not a fan of his.

None of us are "fine".

Kyrie was decent enough to apologize and talk about it.

This showed me first hand he is genuinely a good guy.
I was right there when it happened.

Yea.

To me, the “pro” part effectively began whenever also began the market for paying players, whether the market was licit or not.
