I have a feeling that an executive who can exercise his Article II powers without oversight or consequence can probably figure this out.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 12:21 pmFunding.jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 11:53 amWhat's he need Congress for?twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 10:06 am
Frankly, our only hope is that there are a few GOP members of Congress who won't approve the funds necessary to accomplish everything he is trying to do. The cost of his desire to deport tens of millions of people would be staggering, let alone the economic and human toll of seeing the military rolling through neighborhoods scooping up all Hispanics to make them prove they are allowed to be here.

I have a feeling Stephen Miller, then, can figure it out.
Somehow, I still don’t think the general public has ANY conception of what we’ve created in a presidency that the Court supports.
Re: trumpty plumpty
I am still not as doom and gloom about the Supreme Court Presidential Immunity ruling as many are. I just don't see it as the Get Out of Jail Free card that it is being portrayed as by hard cores.

How many guardrails have we assumed would stop Trumps bullshit?
Very few held up.

What cuts against tempering the doom-and-gloom here is the needless breadth of the decision; for example, anything a President does within his Article II powers is - if the Court so desires - out of reach for even investigating.

To say nothing of,The personal qualities displayed by Trump in his reaction to the cost of the Guillén funeral—contempt, rage, parsimony, racism—hardly surprised his inner circle. Trump has frequently voiced his disdain for those who serve in the military and for their devotion to duty, honor, and sacrifice. Former generals who have worked for Trump say that the sole military virtue he prizes is obedience. As his presidency drew to a close, and in the years since, he has become more and more interested in the advantages of dictatorship, and the absolute control over the military that he believes it would deliver. “I need the kind of generals that Hitler had,” Trump said in a private conversation in the White House, according to two people who heard him say this. “People who were totally loyal to him, that follow orders.” (“This is absolutely false,” Pfeiffer wrote in an email. “President Trump never said this.”)
According to attendees, and to contemporaneous notes of the meeting taken by a participant, an aide answered: Yes, we received a bill; the funeral [for an Army private whose funeral Trump offered to pay for] cost $60,000.
Trump became angry. “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!” He turned to his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and issued an order: “Don’t pay it!” Later that day, he was still agitated. “Can you believe it?” he said, according to a witness. “Fucking people, trying to rip me off.”

Hey, didn't Trump just do a 20 minute shift at a McDonald's?

McDonald’s shares fell in extended trading after the CDC said an E. coli outbreak was linked to the chain’s Quarter Pounder burgers.
The outbreak has led to 10 hospitalizations and one death, the CDC said.
The agency said 49 cases have been reported so far in 10 states, with most of the illnesses in Colorado and Nebraska...

Dude did fries, the easiest station there is. I'm sure they made him drain and filter the oil, scrub the fryer and then put the oil back in.

Winner! Winner! The first thing you think of when you hear there's an E. coli infection is, fecal contamination.
There are many strains of E. coli that live in human and animal intestines that help us digest our food and do us no harm. But occasionally strains that can do us harm find their way into our (especially undercooked ground) beef, and water with fecal contamination gets spread onto vegetables we eat raw, and you (usually) end up with an intestinal infection (diarrhea) that the majority of people would be over in within a week, but for whatever reason other people get profoundly sick from and can even die.
Chipotle had a series of E. coli infections over several years that kept knocking their legs out from under them, but they've solved whatever problem(s) they were having and their stock has skyrocketed.
