How many other GMs have gone to 8 straight NBA finals?

So is he a good GM or bad GM? You guys flip flop so much when it comes to LeBron.
It's mystifying how you could respond to my post with whatever this is.

8. Straight. Finals.

I think I've been pretty damn consistent on him. He is the GOAT.

He also, as makes perfect damn sense!, consistently manipulates his teams into making win-now moves, often involving his friends (and, soon, family).

It's part of what you sign up for when you sign or trade for LeBron. And flags, of course, fly forever. But you know that you're essentially salting the earth for years that follow his exit.

And there's something depressing about that, as a fan. And it's absolutely more depressing for the Clevelands of the world, where (unlike Miami and LA) there isn't a built-in supermagnet for new guys.

He's only the GM when you don't like the situation...when the result is positive he doesn't get GM credit.

LeBron's shrewdest GM moves have all been leaving aging teams to join younger, more talented teams. Credit to him for those obvious moves.

He takes his talent to whatever beach has the most star power. Genius. Good player.

But that's what's so broken about the logic of the whole thing: GM Bron's basketball moves have many many times been questionable at best. Winning has been in spite of his roster meddling and favorite-playing. He's just that good!

But he's also a passive-aggressive prima donna of the highest order. There are cruder words for it.

Take this for example:

LeBron James used All-Star weekend to put the Los Angeles Lakers on notice

https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/ ... ers-notice
Now is when it would be prudent to recall the winter of 2018, when James had grown frustrated with a flawed Cavs team. He'd declined to extend his contract the summer before when a deal for Paul George was on the table. Cleveland team owner Dan Gilbert responded by acquiescing to Kyrie Irving's trade demand, working out a deal centered around a draft pick and not players as James had made it clear he wanted.

There was plausible deniability, but in mid-January James started playing under a form of protest. Everyone on the team knew it and it was evident if you watched closely enough, James' foot was off the gas. Gilbert and Cavs general manager Koby Altman were at a crossroads and knew there was a strong chance James was leaving in free agency but they still had the rest of the season.

Eventually, Gilbert and Altman realized they didn't have a choice. James was an irreplaceable resource; once he was gone there would maybe never be another. So the day before the trade deadline, they got several trades in place. That night, Altman met with James before the game and told him the following day they were trading for four new players and had decided to use their first-round pick from that year to do so. It was the seventh first-rounder they were trading in the four seasons James had been back.

That night, an energetic James ended his quasi-strike with a signature 37-point, 10-rebound, 15-assist masterpiece that included a buzzer-beater to win a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He topped it off with a move for his personal passive-aggressive Hall of Fame, turning his back on Isaiah Thomas when he charged the court to celebrate. James never wanted the Cavs to trade for Thomas and already knew he was being shipped out the next day.

The Cavs got four role players at the deadline but that wasn't the real prize. That night, members of the front office looked at each other and realized: what they'd really traded for was James.

He followed it up with one of the greatest postseason runs of his pro career, making two buzzer-beaters and winning two Game 7s -- including one on the road -- to make his eighth straight Finals.

The Lakers were involved in all that, they got in on those Cavs trades and used them to get the salary-cap space to sign James the following summer and got their first-round pick.

Now they might need to remember it.

The narrative I started hearing over the weekend is that LeBron had the better overall career but peak Jordan was better.

I suppose I can live with that being the story.

If it shuts people up on the subject, fine. It's an endless, unprovable merry-go-round of hot takes.

Does Bronny have PG skills?

Cuz that may ultimately be the biggest factor in determining his league potential, even more so than all the leveraging from his superstar dad.

Or heck, maybe dad’s leverage really is strong enough to get some franchise to roll the dice on someone otherwise more so an undersized wing.

The scouting report I have seen makes Bronny sound like a 4-year shooting guard in a point guard's body. Top 50-100ish. A lot of those type of players out there.

Just my opinion, but I thing MJ is the GOAT.
He is the only player, past or present, that made me stop to see what he was going to do with the ball.

With todays rules, Jordan averages 30ppg.

Put LeBron on a 1990 playoff team, and he dominates the league in whining to the ref minutes. Oakley, Mason, Grant..,.,,those guys would beat him down.

Once again, just my opinion.

it seems like the question is: should bron be held to a standard different from other parents?

the majority of parents would advocate for their kids success, but at what point does bron’s notoriety give jr. an unfair advantage? and is that bron’s fault, or the fault of the colleges and gm’s that would lack the integrity to see past it?

1 game it's MJ easily.

15 years it's LeBron easily.

Career it's debatable I guess, but I still say MJ.

MJ grew the game globally.

LeBron reshaped how much power star players have.

This seems conservative considering he averaged 30.1 over his career, including the Washington years.

Haven't seen a big fuss when head coaches hire their sons to be assistant coaches in various sports. It's okay for owners GMs and coaches but not players?

You think Self and Norm helped Tyler and Niko get their jobs in anyway they could?

With todays social media the MJ antics would be viewed differently. Every bad game after golfing all morning or drinking/gambling all night wouldn't be as acceptable.

LOL.. sounds like some "hopeful for the worst" analysis.

Some of your heads will explode if he comes to KU.

LeBron controlling Self too? Because we are recruting him.
