It's debatable if it's silly or not. For me.
I have had unexpected people "sneak up" on me.
Yesterday, for the first time in weeks, I rode down an elevator without a mask on. Just forgot to put it on. Was going to check my mail box. It was about 6:00am. Thankfully no one else got on the elevator but I don't know what germs may or may not have been floating around on the elevator.
Anyways, I go to my mailbox, get the junk mail out, and as I re-lock the box and turn around, there was a "security guard" standing about 3-4 feet behind me. She's always wearing a mask but......
Similar thing happened to me on Saturday. Sitting in a park on a large rock all by myself. No one within 20 feet of me. Watching dogs running around playing with each other. Not sure why but I turned around, a kid probably 3 or 4 years old standing right behind me.
People are going to do as they please. I can control what I do and don't do. I can't control others.
I hear people tell me they aren't worried, they won't wear a mask because they are "social distancing". Right, YOU are social distancing but not everyone else is.

I have worn a mask this week to walk my dogs, because I saw one of the allergists trying to explain the difference between the virus symptoms and seasonal allergies and he suggested that masks catch pollen molecules much better than virus molecules. Since it's been a horrendous pollen season with wind and no rain, everyone is suffering and I have to admit, it did seem to help.

For ordinary, everyday activities:
Pros
* Significantly reduce risk of passing the coronavirus to others.
* Marginally reduce risk of acquiring the coronavirus from others.
* Encourage others to reduce risk of transmitting/acquiring the coronavirus.
* Perhaps mitigate/alleviate seasonal allergies.
Cons
* Feel sort of weird.
* Your glasses might fog up.
* Must move mask in order to eat/drink.
It's a close call, I know.

So, according to CDC data, we’re flushing our economy down the toilet to protect a small demographic that can easily and reasonably be protected without screwing the rest of us:

Retired (age 66-77) deaths from COVID-19-involved illnesses are projected at a rate of 1% as a percentage of their peers. They died from influenza-involved illnesses at a rate of .05% over the same period.

Fear porn assumes that people will believe the “mainstream” media, choose not to think for themselves, and meekly submit to the government’s attempts to trample their Constitutional rights and steal their futures. Enough is already too much.

That's because mitigation is working.
You'd need to know percentages of deaths if nothing was done to know if it was worth it.
