What SHOULD happen to a person who keeps top secret information they’re not entitled to have? And shows it off to people without clearances?

What SHOULD happen to someone who seeks out officials to rig votes?

What SHOULD happen to someone who knowingly lights a fire in a gas-soaked building? And then waits hours to call the fire department once the building is engulfed in flames?
Our federal government is ridiculously corrupt. The bigger problem is how much "truth" is withheld from the people and replaced with propaganda

Hadn't heard that.

This is rhetorical, but

Am I wrong to think that Rudi became so unabashed, so unhinged, for so long trying to spread Trump's Lie despite having nothing in the way of evidence, it's hard not to feel like any testimony he has to proffer now, and there should be a whole lot, is diminished in some respect from what it would have been were he offering it before he went so whack?
I don't think Rudy can be relied on for anything other than documentary evidence.

To be fair - I don't necessarily think that an investigation is "meritless". If there is reputable evidence of lawbreaking, investigating that possible lawbreaking is of course fine. Biden is no more above the law as President than was Trump.

However. I'm not aware of any such reputable evidence. And if such reputable evidence exists, any investigations sure seem to be fruitless.

completely agree

and i’m not suggesting that parnas is the most reliable of sources…just found his comments interesting, as he was seemingly on the front lines of trying to dig up dirt on the Bidens in Ukraine

Of course. We're so deep into the lunacy here that even the loons are telling you there's no smoke, let alone no fire.

I fully expected to be paying attention primarily to Trump's document proceedings down in Fort Pierce, FL this afternoon, but with Trump announcing his target letter and the Michigan AG announcing felony charges against 16 Michigan residents for their role in the alleged false electors scheme following the 2020 U.S. presidential election, it's hard to keep up.

But it is reassuring to see that people are being held accountable, although it's disturbing it has taken so long. But then, we're constantly reminded how special Donald Trump is, and how there's a separate code of conduct for him, whether it's trying to overthrow our government, or stealing, hoarding, and sharing top secret documents having to do with potential plans for war and our nuclear weapons.

It's hard not to believe that a lot of these old folks have been marinating in conservative stupid sauce on their radios and on their TVs for a couple of decades until they were primed to move whenever a troop of charlatans preyed on their obvious credulity. There is something fundamentally indecent about the whole thing.

Listened to Charlie Pierce for decades on NPR. For years I've wished there was an additional reason to subscribe to Esquire. Love his pov.

Importantly, Georgia charges would not be brought in front of Trump-appointed judges and would not be in scope for a federal pardon. I would guess that Jack Smith will leave ample room for the Georgia charges to proceed on their own track.

Counterpoint (tactical): Smith has Trump dead to rights in at least three different circuits, so it's tactically sound to give him every preference and advantage so as to reduce the risk of a verdict being overturned on appeal.

Counterpoint (strategic): would it be SO bad if he took the passport he (with HIGHLY preferential treatment) still has, and fucking used it?

That can only be based on believing Trump's goofball logic that he can declassify whatever he wants just by having the thought flow through his brain. That is just not how it works and even Trump knows that. If the proper steps to declassify these documents were performed then there would be at least one piece of paper showing that it happened.

For your reading pleasure: https://www.americanbar.org/news/abanew ... authority/

Since I doubt you'll read it, I'll just skip to the core part: "In all cases, however, a formal procedure is required so governmental agencies know with certainty what has been declassified and decisions memorialized. A federal appeals court in a 2020 Freedom of Information Act case, New York Times v. CIA, underscored that point: “Declassification cannot occur unless designated officials follow specified procedures,” the court said."

Randy believes Trump's lame defense that the documents were declassified and since they were declassified, no crime has been committed.
