Faith in the government is about as shakey as its ever been
In your Christofascist Griftosphere, maybe. But here in the real world, people have jobs, inflation is slowing, our international standing is recovering and all sorts of other good things.

Has the Biden administration been perfect? Absolutely not.

But the promise that was made was to do the slow and boring work of rational, sane governance (and be a bulwark keeping the leftiest edge of the party from overtaking the center).* That promise has been kept to my satisfaction.

* This is the opposite of what’s happened with the GOP, which has let the lunatics take control of the asylum.

When convenient. Otherwise it’s the moving goalposts thing. Voters need to be informed (what’s that mean?). Voters need to be scientifically mature (what’s that mean?). Voters need to be taxpayers (what’s that mean?).

And so on.
Means our country is better off if we have faith that the votes being counted are legal valid votes. And the people placing them actually pay attention to policies and current political affairs

This shouldn't be controversial and it shouldn't favor either side

It should actual yield better results
How many hours on 8CHAN should one have to log to be eligible to vote? 20? 80?

Ok. Well last time the margin was >7,000,000.

And in the meantime, the pubs have managed to shit all over >50% of the population, and the pubs are pushing the country to the brink of default, and kids keep getting shot to death thanks to the pubs’ puppeteers at the NRA, and the Dems…have run the country pretty damn smoothly. And key states (Wisconsin and Arizona come to mind) have cleaned up the levers the crazies have over elections.

So I’m at a loss for how to conclude that the margin will be less in 2024 (assuming Trump is the nominee).

The wild card would be the pub-stolen Court validating the busted independent state legislature theory…but I’m guessing that’s out of your scope.

The vote isn't a grade; it's a choice. We'll have to choose between either Biden or Trump because in two years the GOP has been unable to generate a better candidate than Trump.

The term “Pyrrhic victory” may be replaced for the next 300 years by the term “Dobbs victory”. It’s that big of a game changer in American (and thus world) politics.

randylahey wrote: Thu May 18, 2023 11:21 am Meanwhile vivek wants 25 apparently. 25 is scientifically the age when the human brain is fully developed. Seems logical. Would yield better election results and more informed voting.

I doubt it ever changes from 18. If it began to gain any support the dems would be quick to label it "voter suppression"
I'll support moving the voting age to 25 when they change the age for drug and alcohol purchases, serving the in military, purchasing weapons and pretty much all other forms of being considered a "legal adult" to 25.

This has been a trend for decades. Long before Trump entered politics

The dems target young people for their vote. They've used colleges, social media etc and they've done a good job of attacking the young voter block

People used to shift towards republican as they get older, but nowadays people break away from the 2 people system itself with time

I assure you that making sure that voters are "better educated about what they are voting for" is not something that just favors one side. Take the BS law regarding MCCs for gun shops that was passed in Florida that I spoke towards several days ago. If anyone took 10 minutes to educate themselves on the topic, it would have failed to garner a single vote.

Did you ever take a moment to consider that maybe the Dem platform just appeals more to younger voters?

And that…younger voters turn into older voters? By operation of…science?

This is what I mean about Dobbs. It (along with other culture war horseshit) fundamentally alters the trajectory for how people’s politics ages.
