I think it is obvious to more people than who will admit it, but what you're seeing (finally) is that nearly all stock GOP talking points are fig leaves over the ugly twig-and-berries: the desire to consolidate wealth and power, and a rejection of a pluralistic society.

the US will never have a truly socialistic government, imo

will we CONTINUE to enact socialistic policies? sure. and i think some of them are warranted (healthcare) and others aren’t (free college for all)

The rejection of a pluralistic society is a distraction of sorts. If voters have some tangible villain to focus their energy against, they’re less likely to stop and understand who’s actually screwing them over.

While average Joes fight about shit like guns and abortion and religious freedom, the plutocrats have their cover to loot the republic.

It just sucks that socialism benefits those who need it the least. Rich folks get their tax breaks without batting an eye, while poor folks are vilified for trying to use a social safety net to survive.
