I like how they WH says ~1000 known cases this morning. Those the officially-went-thru-WH numbers. Check with the locals for more reliable numbers. Seattle Mayor said ~1000 known cases in the greater Seattle area.
Somehow those numbers do not compute. Who ya going to believe?

And numbers don’t mean much anyway. What ACTIONS are local and federal leaders taking?

TDub wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:43 pm can we still call the 1918 pandemic the spanish flu? Or is that racist too?

Disliking chinese or spanish people because of it would be racist. Naming it or referring to it because of its origin site is not.
In 1918 the United States was involved in World War I, but was also dealing with the outbreak of a deadly influenza epidemic. The first cases of the outbreak were recorded in Haskell County, Kansas, and Fort Riley, Kansas, where young men were being hospitalized for severe flu-like symptoms. A local doctor sent a report to the Public Health Service, but no one was sent to investigate the situation....

This is turning into a real Social Security conspiracy.

Silver lining, we may finally get rid of the politics board.

I’m willing to wager that the decline in the Asian restaurants is larger. I would attribute that to benign ignorance more than intentional racism but the two aren’t unrelated.
said better than i
I posted an article that said in seattle there was a roughly 40% decrease in restaurant business/cafes across the board. Its not exclusive to thw asian restaurants.

But i do agree that people are dumb/ ill informed.

My estimate is 10,000.

And I’m a lot closer than WH.

citizens have literally been asking if they can get the virus from eating chinese food

not racist, necessarily (but that may very well be the case for some), but woefully dumb/ignorant/ill-informed
I don't know about getting "THE virus" from eating Chinese food but I have no doubt you could get A virus from eating Chinese food. Amiwong?
Ok, that question was racist. Sorry!

Oh go fuck off Trump.
Too late for your “partisanship” and “come together” bullshit.

Did Italy panic the way we are when they were at the same point in the spread?
The panic might end up saving a lot of lives.

And people will say it was all overblown rather than credit it for success.
