Coach K hand selecting a white guy should surprise no one.

Should have declared he was picking a black person to replace him so that he could get all the pats on the butt this season.

"Duke's subsequent investigation into allegations that Williamson and family members had received improper gifts and benefits cleared the player."

God you're dumb.
Amaker has already proven to be a shitty coach. Scheyer at least hasn't already crashed and burned somewhere.

scheyer has done nothing either. but amaker has at least proven he is an average at best head coach. and has done nothing throughout his hc career to deserve that job.

He's done a good job at Harvard, no?
Kinda flopped at Michigan ( no tournament appearances while he was there ) but that was a while ago.

Q asks, what does it mean to “change his recruiting approach” and “attempt to sign players who didn’t come from traditional dook backgrounds”
??
Also K’s drama with Knight and Quin, lol

Succeeding at a mid/low major is different than succeeding in a power conference. Would you want Danny Manning to be the next Kansas head coach?
Also, Harvard hasn't made the tournament in 6 years

Probably not, no.
But I likely wouldn't want Jeremy Case to be the next Kansas coach in 3 years either.

Absolutely not.
Handpicking successors is dumb. Especially for high-end programs. And it's proven to not work out for UNC at this point, who knows what it'll be like for Duke.

I'm not defending Scheyer as a good pick. But if you're going to say it's because of race, at least use someone that didn't fail in their one major chance and who hasn't failed to make the tournament the last six years.

There are a lot of similarities between duke and harvard that would be relevant.
And Amaker has done about as good of a job as you can do at Harvard. Not making the tournament in 6 years has to do with playing in a 1-bid league, needing to win a stupid conference tournament, and not having a post season due to a pandemic in two of those years. He's won more than half the conference titles since he's been there...which is far more than K in the same span.

Ivy doesn't have a conference tournament. He hasn't won the league outright in six years. If you can't win a shitty league, you shouldn't be considered for a head coaching job at a blue blood.

He didn't make the tournament at all, in six years, while at Michigan.
That's the red flag.
