Very good points, Newton. Couldn't agree with you more.
It has been proven over and over again that a running team is not the blueprint to beat the Chiefs during the Mahomes era. To beat the Chiefs you have to match them score for score plus have a defense that can rush four and drop everyone else in coverage. I do believe the Browns are better on defense then they have shown but they aren't any where near the 49'er's of last year or the Saints of this year. If the Browns are to win they will have to have a lot (I'm emphasizing A LOT here) go their way and Baker Mayfield will have to throw for 400 yds and three TDs plus whatever Chubb / Hunt do. I just don't see that happening especially not with the WR's that Cleveland has.
And to pdub's point yes the Chiefs still have to show up. The Chiefs are not invincible. Cleveland isn't just going to lay down because they are playing the 'mighty' Chiefs and I'm assuming that Reid is emphasizing that.

I don't think it's boredom.
But I do think it's keeping things safe.
Andy and co. have things in their playbook ready to set fire to the NFL.

Browns defensive stats DVOA-based
29th on deep passes
29th on 3rd down passes
28th on passes to tight ends.
Good luck Cleveland.

Regarding Chiefs not covering, I think they've been bored with the regular season.
This is just not something I will ever buy in the NFL. NBA, sure.
I mean, true. Because the sport is so grueling. Like PWhitt said, keeping things safe is probably the better word.

Mellinger reported that the Chiefs don't save any plays for the playoffs but Andy Reid's playbook is so vast that they can work on a play all year and might not get to it until late. That is certainly believable b/c Reid.

Yeah Reid's playbook is insanely deep, sometimes they'll only run the exact same play a handful of times per year.

No CEH at practice today.
Not good after a practice yesterday.
Practice report tomorrow is the big day.
Likely no CEH and no Watkins.

CEH is an interesting one. You have to assume that would be a set back or they wanted to pull him back.
Sammy is out. Moving forward for the rest of the year, or however long this year lasts I will just assume he will not be a part of this team and will be pleasantly surprised when he is.

Sammy had a solid post season run though.
He's a significant upgrade over Robinson.
I really hope if he can't make it for this one, he can if we make it to the next.

I'm not downplaying Sammy's role on this team. He was the Chiefs best WR down the stretch last year. He is really the only 'big' WR who can get off of press consistently and thrives in the role opposite of the double teams that Kelce and Hill demand. There is a pretty big drop off compared to D-Rob and Hardman. The problem I have is that Sammy has never been healthy and you cannot count on him. Thus the reason why I expect him to be out and will be pleasantly surprised if or when he returns.
Speaking of WRs...I thought Sharpe might have a chance to make the playoff roster because he is another 'bigger' WR. I doubt that happens. Also, the Chiefs signed former Browns first rounder, Antonio Callaway, to a practice squad deal. He of course comes with multiple marijuana busts and other red flags. Ton of potential but has never been able to put it all together. That could be an interesting one to watch for next year with the Chiefs most likely moving on from the afor mentioned Watkins and Robinson.

What I want this weekend is to not be stressed.
Up by 14 v Iowa State at half, beat em by 23.
Next day, Chiefs up 10 at half, score a TD on the opening drive of the 2nd kinda deal.
Please, give my heart a rest before Monday @ Baylor.

I skipped the OSU game because I didn’t want to invest mental energy in it. These Trump weeks are like years. I will watch Mahomes every time though. Even if it comes down to forward progress no-fumbles, because he is a gift and we need to enjoy it while we can.

Under/over Mahomes passing yards 359.5.
Under/over Kelce receiving yards 94.5.
Under/over Hill receiving yards 84.5.
Under/over Chubb rushing yards 99.5.
Under/over TO/s Mayfield 1.5.

Gay and Watkins are out. CEH is questionable. Did not practice but questionable usually means active. So they must not want to push him too hard in case he plays.

Without either of them, i'd going under on the spread.
Chiefs by a TD.

First game in the playoffs for Mahomes without Watkins. Watkins in the playoffs has been tremendous. 5 games. 24 receptions 464 yards. Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman need to be on their A game.
Reid said CEH moved well on Wednesday and then they pulled back on him to avoid chance of reaggravation. But he was still there, just did not participate in plays or the like.

If Robinson drops his first perfectly thrown Mahomes pass ( so first pass ), i'm gonna loose it.

Cough Texans game last year. Dropped 2 easy ones in the first quarter.

I almost feel Pringle is more dependable - just not as dangerous.
