If 150 million of us in the USA are gonna get it, let's not let it take charge of our lives.
Let's roll the dice.

If there's a snowstorm outside and authorities are warning us not to be on the roads but I have a weekend trip planned at a bad ass cabin where my friends will be, I'm fucking driving through it. And the other people on the road -- I get why they are driving through it to. We're all taking a risk.

I would absolutely tell my parents who aren't safe to drive in that weather to stay at home.
This isnt a snowstorm. Are you ok?

250 college kids playing in a closed stadium is not going to drastically affect the spread of this.
Schools are cancelling classes and kids are swarming in huge numbers to celebrate.

COOL! Limit down. Market taking a break. How soon before President Fuckwad tells us the economy is "great", "it's beautiful", "it's the best economy ever", and that his travel ban and his virus response/s have nothing to do with it?

It's a risk to life.
There are tons of risks to life.
New risks to life happen and will continue to happen.

What if this virus comes back a year from now?
Are we going to do the same thing? Are we going to live a life of fear?

I get why many of you are nervous and i'm not going to argue with your or others decisions. I just would try to be less afraid -- the hysteria isn't a good thing.

Make sure you go visit your parents and tell them all about your trip. That home cooking isn’t to be missed.

(For he record, I definitely think we are over reacting, but to what degree I can’t pretend to know).

At least Im young enough for the market to recover. My parents may not be.

The fed pulled the emergency rip cord before they jumped out of the plane and now we have no further recourse to slow the fall when things get worse.

As i have said before, you cant blame trump for the virus, but you can blame him/his people for the response. Trump haters should be glad this happened while he was in office, because any president would have a major challenge dealing with the fallout of this situation.

Right now is a great time to put a little extra in your 401k when the market is severely undervalued. Especially if you're very young (35 or under). The compounding gains will pay off down the line.

There’s a certain irony to thinking student athletes shouldn’t earn their fair market value but should roll the dice and keep us entertained during a pandemic...

I think Disney, Netflix and Comcast stocks should be hot. I'm shocked they are following the index trends.

Nope, not glad this happened.

But in that sense I wish it would have happened with any other potus, cuz any other potus would treat this more like a public health crisis and less like a PR hiccup to keep quiet.

If only Trump could get the virus to sign a non-disclosure agreement...

Agreed. Im still dumping into 401k. But i havent increased, partly because id like to continue building my available rainy day fund in case the economy completely shits and I'm out of work for a while. Or if i do get sick and Im out of work for a while. A

I wasnt suggesting you were glad it happened. No one wants it to happen. But, IF it had to happen at least you can unabashedly lay your blame without a second thought to how YOU would've liked it to be handled. Armchair quarterbacking is an easy gig.

Adding some fuel to the Pdub irresponsible outrage machine....

“As cases of the new coronavirus continue to climb, so have instances of recovery, and a tracker maintained by Johns Hopkins University reported that more than 50,000 people have recovered.

As of Wednesday morning, the Johns Hopkins tracker showed 94,225 cases of the virus in 73 countries. Of those cases, 51,026 people recovered from the virus, including 49,856 in mainland China.”

Same. I'm under 35 and I have my 401K as aggressive. I haven't looked in a while, but I know I've lost quite a bit, but I know it will come back very strong and do very well for me.

Still got a lonnngggg ways to go before retirement so I'm ok with the volatility right now.

I'm still confused what is going on based on his address last night. It seems like I can travel, but maybe not?

You're probably right but you don't really "know" 100% for sure. Do you?

Mrs 99 and youngest kid are flying to Minnesota to see oldest kid and granddaughter on Tues. Plans are still on. Youngest kid goes to uk and lives in a dorm. She's sick with a common cold, sore throat, stuffy head etc. Been tested for flu, strep. Hopefully, she's over that before trip.

And if it was a snowstorm the reasons for staying home are the same. You not only risk your life, but others. If you get stuck, then there is a risk to the emergency response providers who feel duty bound to help you.

Sure, we will all likely get the coronavirus. But if we all don't get it at the same time and we protect the ones most vulnerable we can help keep the end count less horrific. See Italy where they just found out why it shouldn't all be about you.
