Going forward, I dunno how fair it is to play Jalen less just on the chance he doesn’t have a good scoring game.
He’s certainly capable of a big scoring game, and is more consistent on the glass. Mitch is neither of those.
I think much of it may come down to “best 5 out there,” regardless of position.
Much of it comes down to GM Self’s handling of our front court personnel. He knew exactly what he had in Dave and Mitch, and basically chose to double down.

i think more than anything it comes down to which Dave shows up
if it’s good Dave, then all of this conjecture is moot
if it’s bad Dave, it would seem to come down to matchups

I think it was fair to not expect Dave to struggle early given how he played in conference last season. And Self did go hard after Christian Bishop.
Jalen did play well last game, but overall, the half court offense was a complete mess and someone has to be the odd man out when Remy gets back to where we need him to be.

Juan-CB-Och-Jalen-Dave - that's essentially the same makeup from last season.

I wonder how much of Dave’s struggles is Self’s coaching.
“Just come off the bench and box out” may have a different effect than “ok so we’re running everything through you”

I remember last summer when Kofi Cockburn was talking about transferring from the Illini. He mentioned KU as a possibility and I thought, what if?

We're not really running things through Dave this year, though. At least not like last season. So, he didn't really handle that change very well. It's not great when your 6'10" 250 lb. player comes with a "Handle With Care" sticker.

This is your friendly daily reminder that Mitch averages 13min per game.

Everyone plays mug-a-hawk defense this year. Impacts the flow and makes every game ugly. DEfense in every sport devolves to: "What can I get away with?" The truth is, the question should be what can you get away with and still draw viewers? Defense in basketball can be exciting and within the rules or it can cause us to yell at the TV. I am guessing the latter today.

I'm gonna miss the second half for my daughter's first basketball game ever. Bad fan? Or good Dad?
