In comments...."Lagerald isn't coming back is he?"....."liked" by LaLa.

Might not mean anything, but funny either way.

How much fun is Self having coaching this team right now?

I'm not that down about last night. Reminded me of the 2018 Villanova game--only other time I recall running into that kind of a buzzsaw.

A one-point loss would have us in the exact same position.

From a fan standpoint, that loss was easy to deal with. I was never emotionally invested in the game.

But it confirms that the mini-roll we were on was because we were playing shitty teams rather than because a young team had matured and fixed a chemistry issue.

Nah, I wouldn't even go that far. Before the mini-run, we were playing the worst ball of the season.

Let's see what happens tomorrow night before we make any grand conclusions about what a good team (but bad offensive team) shooting unconscious for 40 whole minutes against us means.

I hear what you're saying and I agree with it.

But, at the same time, we've had four games since Vick left, so the sample size for evaluating the current team is very small right now, and I'll say that last night's game means more than the previous three games where we beat mediocre to bad teams.

Well you're arguing small sample size and then on the other hand say that 1 game means more than 3 games. All 4 of the games have meaning and if you're looking for an outlier, it would make sense that the game with the school-record performance is the outlier.

At Fort Worth was also a good win. A game we would have lost at other points during the season. We'll just know a lot more after tomorrow.

I'm with PhD on this.

We had a lot to do with TT looking like a buzzsaw. We turned the ball over and coulsn't guard their motion offense (thought we had an entire week to prepare?).

What last night’s game means is that we simply don’t have the firepower, on either end of the court, to deal with a barrage like what happened in the first ten minutes yesterday.

And that there’s absolutely no reason to expect anything from Grimes this year.

Is this just a bad system for Grimes to be in?

From a macro view, I did think it was an indictment on how thin the margin for error has been during our conference dominance. What Bill has done is tremendous, but right now through some bad GM moves, we're just one or two bad luck or bad things from having an Indiana or UCLA season(s).

Tech was the better coached team with the best player on the court last night. Tech.

I think it means more from the standpoint of what it means when we play a really good team. We can consistently beat non-tourney teams like WVU and OSU sure, we can more often than not beat double digit seed type teams like TCU, fine.

But TTU is the level of team, or even better, that we would likely be playing after our opening tournament game, unless we luck out with some upsets or something. And, sure, they're a defensive team that got hot shooting the rock at home so there's no shame in loosing that game. But we didn't lose by a dozen points, we got housed and looked like we didn't belong in the gym.

Perfect storm or not, that's not a good indicator of future success, and I don't think anything meaningful can be gleened from the previous three games.

How'd Tech do in Allen?

A helluva lot better than we did in Lubbock.

I guess we'll just agree to disagree that over a 4-game conference stretch, 3 of the games are meaningless and 1 game means almost everything.

Tech sure looks like the best team in the league and I'd say Kansas State, KU and ISU are in line for the 2nd best team. If we go out and win a game tomorrow where we're favored, any overreaction to the perfect storm last night will look premature.

I'm not saying last night means everything. I'm saying it's the most meaningful game of the 4 games we've played post Vick flaking out.

I'm not saying the sky is falling or anything like it.

But I think that this team hasn't changed or significantly improved since February 6th, but I do think that up to yesterday, the collective opinion of this team on this board had significantly improved since that date, and I'm not sure that was entirely justified.

Obviously the entire season needs to be taken into account, but last night was the only game with our full roster of available people that we'll likely have the rest of the year.

I know what you're trying to say, and still think it's an overreach. The team as it sits now sure looks better than the team that lost to WVU and Texas. I'm with you if we get housed tomorrow night.

Well, I hope you're right.

But I think the overreach was the kumbaya love fest we were having for playing better against the 7th 9th and 10th teams in the conference than we were playing against the top half of the conference.

We've played like the 3rd best team in the Big12 and that's probably what we are.
