My daughter suggested we watch Don’t Look Up this afternoon. Very funny but also could not resist all the political messages. I really liked it - lots of similarities to Idiocracy. Bronteroc is a brilliant touch!!

Anyone here a Jim Gaffigan fan? Just tuned into his new Netflix special… He’s hilarious. Very pandemic-oriented comedy.

Yeah I like him a lot. Haven't seen the new special, but have always appreciated his neutrality and how he doesn't usually do low hanging fruit politics/politician jokes. Just funny observations.

Just finished watching it. I wonder how many people didn't comprehend the absurdity of pretty much ALL of it. Which is basically what the movie expects (and begs) people to comprehend.
The ironic thing is it was written (and made) pre-covid.
I watched The Power of the Dog two nights ago. Polar opposite of a movie and yet equally entertaining (in a much different way) and even more worthy of discussion.

he mustve gotten better....I saw him live 10 or 12 years ago and he was terrible.
I dont know how much mileage a guy can get out of whispering "hot pocket" 52 times per set and talking about the ensuing diarrhea. None of it was funny.

on a scale of 1 to 10, don’t look up is a 4.
The streaming services just cannot make a good movie.

Might just be a taste thing. I found the hot pocket bit funny when it came out 15 years ago--may hit differently if I saw it for the first time today. He's changed his jokes since he's gotten older--a lot of self awareness jokes, which I find amusing.

I know I called you an old dork the other day, but does one need to watch Yellowstone before 1883?

I like both. Very different shows.
Can't believe the writer Taylor Sheridan was part of the group that purchased the 6666 ranch for several hundred million dollars.

It's just the one episode so it's impossible to tell. But not a great start.

I keep telling everyone: Station Eleven. Written a decade ago, filmed during initial Covid outbreak.

I didnt know he did, thats crazy. I also didn't know he was the guy doing the reigning competitions on Yellowstone. I hear there's another show coming out about the Four sixes.

Yes. That's coming in a year or 2. Big reason for all the crossover with that ranch in yellowstone.
Word on the street is that Jimmy and Walker may be in that cast. Jimmy for sure it seems like. Walker not confirmed.
