Yeah! We should vote that clown out of office and . . . oh, wait a minute . . . he's been gone for almost a year now. How's your guy doing? Lulz.
just passed the biggest infrastructure bill in history, so pretty good
he’s definitely not a sore looser like your guy, nor does he behave like a petulant child
my current finances and financial outlook are great. i’ve gotten ~$10K/yr raise since Joe took office, so for me he’s doing marvelously
Yay! More government spending. Nobody has to pay for that, right?!? Inflation is running out of control. There are shortages of things all over the place. We are rapdily becoming a Third World nation. Not good.
Cost of infrastructure bill to deficit over 10 years: $256,000,000,000
Cost of Trump tax cuts to deficit over 10 years: $1,900,000,000,000
I don't like deficit spending either... But one party is way worse about deficits than the other. And it happens to be the same party that pretends to care about it (when convenient).

Not to mention that the "supply-side economics" that are offered as the (fig leaf) justification for tax cuts has been proven to be nonsense, over and over and over again.

obviously just a small part of infrastructure, but…
It was evident we needed better highways. We needed them for safety, to accommodate more automobiles. We needed them fur defense purposes, if that should ever be necessary. And we needed them for the economy. Not just as a public works measure, but for future growth.
-Lucious Clay, 1954
all of that still rings true today
i guess some would rather our roads and bridges continue to fall into disrepair, for the transition to more sustainable transportation to be stifled, and for those less fortunate to be roadblocked from easily accessing the internet
cutting fossil fuel subsidies seems to be a non-starter, and the american public would collectively flip their shit if the gas tax was raised (how the initial interstate highway system was funded). i’d be curious to know how psych would propose to pay for the things i referenced above

i love "real" infrastructure. roads, bridges, ports, highways, rail. "real" infrastructure is my favorite.
i do not love the fake "social" infrastructure.

how much of the bill has what you’d define as “fake”?

anything that does not involve roads, bridges, ports, highways, rail, internet.

Ok, die on that hill.
The fact is that things like universal pre-K and universal healthcare would be
enormous economic drivers.

So you don't have a problem with the contents. You're just complaining about the labeling of it. Got it.

They should take CRT out of the infrastructure bill.

Agree. Cathode ray tube technology is quite dated.

I realize that reasoning with Mich is futile but here goes anyway - how about giving opportunities for workers to be able work on said roads and bridges by providing affordable childcare? You know, like buying diesel for the trucks

Is this the right time for economic drivers?
I mean, the biggest concern for the greatest number of Americans right now seems more related to demand outpacing supply, along with a worker shortage. So this, just like with the Trump tax cuts, seems like the wrong time to try to juice the economy.
Unless you're arguing with pre-K that more people will get back to looking for a job if their kids are in preschool. If that's the case I would rather see that proposed/debated on its own merit rather than being lumped into a huge omnibus bill.

I'd prefer that, too, but the GOP's bad-faith weaponization of the filibuster (and the Democrats' cowardly refusal to end or fix it) means we are where we are.

now that we are out of afghanistan, the military needs something to do. i bet they have the skill, will and know how to unsnarl the supply chain. they got truckers. they got heavy equipment operators. they got dudes that can drive a boat. they got dudes that can fly anything. they got it all.
the military + national guard. they could tackle this project.
unsnarl the supply chain and inflation goes away. that what uncle joe says.

dumbfuck no longer in charge…
per the WSJ
…Former President Donald Trump said Republicans who voted for the bill “should be ashamed of themselves” for giving Mr. Biden and Democrats a victory, adding Saturday that he would like to see GOP primary challengers for some of them. Some of the House members who voted for it have received death threats after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) called them traitors and tweeted out their phone numbers…
lovely party you republicans have…you must be so proud
