Spring in KC lulz

I remember when I took beav to Lawrence for the final four, I was talking up how nice April in KS can be, and looking forward to a break from the long cold mountain winter.

When we got there that weekend, it was colder and snowier in KS than it was in the mountains.

Yep, hard to make outside plans between March-April and sometimes even into May. One day it can be sunny and in the 60's-70's and then you get a stretch of cool, cloudy days and sometimes snow but most times rain. The Big 12 tournament is hit or miss. When it's sunny and nice out, the PnL district is packed with people, but when it's cloudy and cold, it barely feels like an event is taking place.

I am usually on this train, but I think it has been as nice of a Spring as we have had in a long time. Started in early March, too.
We may just disagree on definitions, or maybe I'm still scarred from the endless rain/gray we just went through. I don't think we had very much of what I'd call Spring.

I’d love some endless rain/gray, at least for a few weeks.

But I’m afraid, so far, that the weather’s doing again this summer what it did for the last two summers:

Clouding up every afternoon like it’s supposed to during the monsoon months, but instead of monsooning, it just clears up without an actual drop of precipitation.

Raining hard here right now.
A little thunder.

Seems that the next town over, Winchester, blows the tornado sirens for severe thunderstorms.
Crazy.

Have to admit that the WFH setup has me often oblivious to the precipitation mid-week.

Probably a disagreement on definitions--mine is to avoid the thing I hate most about KC weather, which is going from 30's to high 80's in seemingly a week. Other than that bad patch of rain, we did very well to avoid that this season.

I remember one time in college it was randomly like 75 in February. Sweet! Let’s go camping!

Head out to Woodridge, spend the night, and we wake up the next morning to 25 degrees and snow on the tent

It has probably been mentioned in this thread, but the drunkest night of 2006ish at KU was the Sunday evening microburst when Monday classes were canceled right before the liquor stores closed.

Get off work and think, man the valley seems hazy tonight.

Then realize, there’s a wildfire burning on the WY border north of me.

Welp.

Dang.

It hasn’t rained here in weeks. None in the forecast either.

How much is normal humidity? Cuz here it’s been 11%

Man it is sizzling here in KC...goodness, it hurts to breathe outside. Glad I got that treadmill, this is brutal.

And I've been watering my yard every morning and it still looks like it's burning up (turning yellow in some areas). I fvcking hate grass.

90 here. Working inside all day but I gotta mow the yard after work. Supposed to rain all weekend. With all the rain we've had recently, the grass is thick and tall even though I cut it a few days ago.
