MICHHAWK wrote: Wed Sep 29, 2021 10:11 am well, if i look at the scorecard today and compare to a year ago, i am in a really good place. schools are open and in-person. youth athletics are up and running. enhanced unemployment benefits have expired. people have to pay the rent again. my 401k is alright.

things are good. so we can say no one side is phucqueing up anything for anyone. things are good.
I am glad that we agree that things are a lot better now than they were this time a year ago.

Hard to argue with that. I am doing the same, but still avoiding large gatherings. And if i feel the slightest bit sick i avoid as many people as possible, especially anyone vulnerable.

At some point, this is the correct take.

In theory, Illy's suggestion of everyone sheltering in place for weeks would work to get the numbers down, but it completely ignores that we know it's theoretical because the considerable tangible effects it would have on everything outside of COVID+ rates and the vast majority of all populations would not go for it.

The flip side to a drastic measure like shutting everything down is getting an extremely safe and effective vaccine. Scientists and world leaders alike have said that "living with covid" includes getting a large majority of populations vaccinated.

So, get your vax, follow sensible rules aimed at lessening the effect of contagion, and live your life.

Agreed...
But it would be nice if the politicians that supported it would be willing to actually pay for it (see: recent events around debt ceiling).

Maybe Merica should like, pass on the avocado toast? Start making coffee at home?

Is the person you got vaxxed for sick and/or elderly?
Both. Dying of cancer. Likely has a month or two left. Just how life works. I would never expect a single person out there to get vaccinated (or do anything differently) on his behalf. Especially strangers. If I can be realistic about something so close to home, there's no reason for all of you to be so damn sensitive about everything all the time
I'm truly sorry the person you care about is dying of cancer.

3 questions......

1. If you sincerely feel - "The world should not be built around the sick and the elderly. Vulnerable people die, always have always will. Its better to be realistic than sensitive", then why did YOU bother to get vaccinated?

2. Do you feel since "vulnerable people die" we should not give a shit about them and simply write them off as being dead before they die?

3. You said, "there's no reason for all of you to be so damn sensitive about everything all the time".
Do you really feel there is "NO reason" for ME to be sensitive about MY and those I love and care about's health and well being?
At the time it seemed my relative had a shot of beating cancer. I was pressured into getting vaxxed or not being able to see them. And at the time beleived the vaccines would be a lot more effective than they've proven to be. No you have every right to be sensitive about your family. It was more of a blanket statement. But we shouldn't be forcing anyone, especially children, to get vaccinated to protect them

I think we should give even more power to our fantastically efficient governement. Maybe put them in charge of everything? Sieze and redistribute, right!?!?

Their push was about medical privacy, which until now has always been a thing most people thought was good in many/most instances.

Like i said, Hannity Tucker and loads of other Republicans are on TV every single day admitting they're vaccinated. I've never felt being vaccinated was a "loser" move for Republicans, only that a vaccine mandate for covid specifically was a "loser" move for Republicans.
Right or wrong, I feel the main objective of their push was to be assholes. Medical privacy or not.
Why would and should anyone be ashamed/embarrassed to admit they were vaccinated?
As far as Hannity and Carlson, two questions. 1) What Republican political office do they hold? 2) When did Carlson say he was vaccinated?
I don't watch much Tucker but i have seen him reference that he is vaccinated numerous times on his show.
Yeah he is. He kind of has my attitude towards vaccines. We both are vaccinated. Both encourage people to do so, if its their choice. But both are against this totalitarian mandates of forcing people into medical treatments. Cause wtf

Tucker carlson terrifies democrats. He is a free thinker and challenges other people to do the same. Sometimes he goes overboard and I dont necessarily agree with everything he says. But he believes in the constitution, freedoms, and understands why we need to protect them. This country desperately needs more voices like that. People here take for granted how good they have things. It wasn't easy to establish a country like this

Serious questions. Numerous times? Really? Would you give me $1000 if I could prove he hasn't "numerous times"?
I won't pay you anything, but i have literally watched/heard him say he's vaccinated. So don't waste your time.

What Fox News’s incentive for pushing anti-vax propaganda again?

Is there more to it than just the fostering of petty divisiveness?

And the role he plays is much, much more important than whether he is or is not vaccinated.

The role he is choosing to play is KILLING people.

You should get that jerky knee checked out. I’m pretty sure there’s no vaccine for that but critical thinking is generally suggested as a cure

I guess cnn does it too. I don’t watch it much tho. I used to watch Fox and friends every morning, until that thread got to be a PITA.

But even if both sides do it, is it still equivalent? Is CNN telling anyone anything as consequential as Fox News is about defying health precautions during a pandemic?

I can't watch CNN. Worse than middle school kids. They generally don't make stuff up like the other side of that coin.
