Considering I haven't given Lisa Page more than 2 or 3 minutes of thought in my life, that's a very insightful post!

Uh. OK.
"We found that the conduct of these five FBI employees brought discredit to themselves, sowed doubt about the FBI’s handling of the Midyear investigation, and impacted the reputation of the FBI...Moreover, the damage caused by their actions extends far beyond the scope of the Midyear investigation and goes to the heart of the FBI’s reputation for neutral fact finding and political independence. We were deeply troubled by text messages exchanged between Strzok and Page that potentially indicated or created the appearance that investigative decisions were impacted by bias or improper considerations."

Exactly! Republican women who have two affairs with married men and potentially compromise a national security investigation are awesome!

"Trade wars are good and easy to win."
Yours truly, "conservative" republican, Donald Trump
The US-China trade war, combined with an outbreak of African swine fever that has decimated the pig population in China, has prompted Beijing to make some changes to its food imports. While China previously sourced many of its agricultural imports from the United States, it is now buying more from other nations.
That is not going down well. But surely Washington must have foreseen that retaliatory measures by Beijing, in response to President Donald Trump’s imposition of tariffs on Chinese goods, would target agricultural imports from the US?
US officials should have known that China would redraw its agricultural supply lines. After all, Chinese people still have to eat, trade war or no trade war, and China relies on food imports , a fact that has come into sharper focus as a consequence of the outbreak of African swine fever.
Thus, circumstances have dictated that China diversify its sources of food imports. And Beijing might decide that it quite likes it that way. It must be better for China’s food security to be less dependent on one supplier, the US, especially when relations between Beijing and Washington may not be as cordial in the future as they once were. US farmers might not regain their market share even if a trade settlement is concluded with China.
In the meantime, the impact of African swine fever has put pressure on pork prices in China. As a result, consumers have been seeking alternative, less-expensive sources of protein. Step forward, New Zealand, which has had a free-trade agreement with China since 2008. While China-US trade relations remain rocky, Beijing’s trade ties with New Zealand look solid.
Indeed, in early November, China and New Zealand announced an upgrade to their FTA. “This ensures our upgraded free trade agreement will remain the best that China has with any country,” New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on November 4.

Re: Today in "so much winning"!
Herein lies the problem, I suppose.
We have a President who brags about the respect he's brought to this country. That we were laughed at when the previous President was in office.
Yet here's a tidbit of information that indicates that the man who occupies the highest elected office in the land is a liar/con man/huckster - whatever.
Who cares is right. It's what we are.
Shouldn't we care?

Are White Black Catholic kids or maybe I should say Black White Catholic kids dickheads?
I don't think so. Supposedly it was a "black out" game. If so, seems a few of the kids went all out and "blacked out".
I can see how others might be quick to judge them harshly.

Or are you equating a blackout game with decades of running around DC shouting about how the Fa***ts are taking over the country?
I have no doubt you are well informed about the "Black Hebrews" in DC. Now let me ask you this, are they ALL pieces of shit? Or a few, some, many, most? I don't know the definitive answer. Perhaps you do.
What I do know is... As someone who has spent time with Morris Dees (in Chicago at an event honoring my father) and the members of the band the Black Israelites (in Jerusalem) I made an effort to learn about the beliefs and objectives/motives of the "Black Hebrews".
Yes, no doubt the guys standing outside the Capitol harassing the Catholic kids are assholes. My question is are all the "Black Hebrews"? I know people who have beliefs that I completely disagree with but I still think they are decent people and I have no problem being friends with them.
My "equating" was that I feel people are quick to judge an entire religion/race/nationality/school/whatever based on the actions of a few individuals. I think you agree with me in that regard. Maybe you don't.

If you're asking whether we should care if the president lies, then yes, of course we should.chiknbut wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:10 pmPardon me for pressing, but I don't think that answered my question.DCHawk1 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:08 pmOh.chiknbut wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:52 am

Some lies are more damaging than others, however, and Trump's lies tend, more or less, to be lies of self-aggrandizement. He's a blowhard and a braggart. That doesn't EXCUSE his lying, but it does place it in some context.
Would I prefer to have a president who never lied? Probably....but then, we've never been given that option. This isn't a perfectly dualist contest, where we can choose a liar or a truth-teller. We get to choose among various liars, telling a variety of lies. The Democratic front-runner, though more personally likable than the president, suffers from the same predisposition towards self-aggrandizement. His predisposition is not as pathological as the President's, but it is still inarguably real. Nevertheless, I'd still prefer him over a woman who lied about being Native American or, on the other side, a guy who disappeared for a couple of weeks and then lied about hiking the Appalachian Trail.
If you're asking whether we should care what other countries think of us or of our president, then no. There are far too many variables that can affect what other countries think for me too care about.
