Self is 9-3 in Sweet 16 games. 2 of the 3 losses were by a combined 7 points (Mich State in 2009 and that Michigan OT disaster in 2013).

Helps that our toughest competition is in the Sweet 16 game. That's where Bill excels the most. Elite 8 a bit of struggle, but the opponent won't be as strong.

So close to having Richmond in the S16 again and me completely melting down over the 2011 sequel.

The more I look at it, the more I think Providence is the worst of the remaining teams in the region. Don't get me wrong, they are a very good team. They just strike me as a team that does a lot of things really well, but nothing great. According to almost every KenPom stat, they would be with KSU and WVU at the bottom of the Big 12. ISU has their defense. Miami has guard play.

You mentioned Self's success in the Sweet 16. If they can get by Providence, this isn't a usual Elite 8. He would have the entire book on ISU already laid out, minus a few adjustments from the two meetings already. As for Miami, he's already familiar McGusty from his days at OU (granted it that was 3 years ago) and the Moore connection goes without saying. I trust he can come up with something in 2 days for the rest of that team. They also have 5 guys who average 30 minutes, so it's not like you have to deal with a ton of mixing and matching depending on matchups.

Don’t worry, Wake beat VCU in NIT, we wouldn’t see them anyway.

Every single one.
Yes.
And almost every single season.
Except 2 seasons.

Can you name the seasons and the player with the highest APG for those two seasons?
It was three seasons.
14-15 Frank Mason fell short at3.9apg
18-19 Devon Dotson fell short at 3.5apg
20-21 Marcus Garrett fell short at 3.7

So basically three of our worst seasons under Self. Nine, ten and nine losses those three years.
I rounded up Frank Mason who was 3.945.

No one hates Dajuan Harris. Everything is so zero-sum around here.
Someone just said that DH, a sophomore, is done improving. That's just dumb.
Sparko said that DH is about where he will end up. And, he's really a junior right?
He and yesufu are the same age, right?

If he's a junior then ben mclemore was a sophomore but we never call him that.

Yesufu and DH are both in their 3rd year of college so i don't see why DH is done improving but Yesufu isn't.

How is this for compromise:

I don't think Yesufu or DH have high enough ceilings to be starting PG at KU. Which is our most important position in a Self offense.

Providence is playing with a chip on their shoulder...Friday is going to be a dogfight and over the years, I've unfortunately lost some faith in Bill in games like this against teams like this...not to mention if KU beats the Friars and then plays ISU or Miami with the Final Four on the line.

I feel like we are due one of those run-out UNC 2008 games, or Indiana 1991.

I'd be cool with a tight game Friday and save the "run-out" game for Sunday.

It’s true that Providence isn’t great at anything but they are good at a lot.

Iowa State turns the ball over a lot, are poor three point and free throw shooters and can’t defend the paint.

If you said I could swap Providence and have them play Miami and we get to play ISU Friday, I’d jump on that in a heartbeat.

Last night I saw this and wondered where KU was on the list. I figured we won 20 (or more) tournament games over the last 10 seasons. We didn't?

Rainbows I'm sorry you have nothing better to do than to go digging stuff up on a message board.

If they are starting in the 2012 season, and including the covid year with no tournament then I have us right at 20.

Going out in the 2nd round 3 of the last 6 tournaments has hurt our numbers.

If you don’t include 12 than we are at 18. Zags have played very well in the last decade.

Take it back 20 years and you have a different story.

Kansas 50.
North Carolina 47.
Duke 43.
Kentucky 42.
Michigan State 37.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I'd like to see wins the last 10 and 20 years. We've got to have a decent gap between us and #2.

Last 10 Gonzaga leads.
316.
2nd is Kansas with 284.

Last 20?
585 Kansas.
2nd, Gonzaga, 582.

( it helps when you don't have to play in one of the top 3 conferences in the nation )
