I was gonna put this in the other shooter thread, but thought a discussion on media deserved its own.

questions:

has there ever been a vilification of "mainstream media" such as the one we're seeing today? Does "one side" do it more than the other?

how many of these alternative media sites are really out there? Are they bastions of free speech in an otherwise censored arena, or are they just echo chambers perpetuating batshit?

Do these alternative media sites tend to lean right, or are there any libtard alternative media sites around? What are they like if so?

Alternative sites tend to lean right for the same reason the majority of think tanks lean right.

If you feel you are shut out of traditional institutions, you form your own. Heritage, Cato, Hudson, etc. were initially started to provide a place for scholars to advance their ideas and conduct academic policy work, free from the perceived political biases of the traditional university.

Likewise, gab, etc. were developed in order to provide an alternative for those who felt that they were shut out by biases on Twitter and the like. Even as recently as this summer, the people at gab thought of themselves/presented themselves simply as the better, less biased social media. Instead, it became a haven for misfits and cast-outs.

Storm Front, Daily Stormer and a lot more.

Those aren't the same thing.

Those were, from the start, intended to be Neo-Nazi/white nationalist. Gab did not set out to be that way.

And Adolph Coors founded Heritage--not quite an unbiased political thinker.

That's why I used the word "perceived."

They don't perceive their own biases, although we all know they exist.
