Re: republicans have no shame
To be fair, I have not met a 21st century politician on either side that seems to have any shame. They are all without shame. Nothing seems to be out of bounds for the 21st century politician. They all $ucK.
Re: republicans have no shame
Sad part of it is that there are enough equally shameless racists that will show up and vote for her, and she will end up in the US Senate.
Re: republicans have no shame
No whataboutism for what is straight out racism.
Perhaps Myrlie Evers Williams said it best:
“We are at a crossroads, Mississippi," she said. "Will we use our sacred right to vote and move forward, or let our souls be dragged back to the past?"

Re: republicans have no shame
"no shame", indeed. Whatever happened to "Read my lips, no new taxes." and "He was for it before he was against it", and the consequences that followed? No accountability, because the orange reality show clown serves up some degree of unprecedented bullshit on an unprecedented basis while republicans prostrate themselves in an endless effort to normalize Trump's/their behaviour.
Orin Hatch throws Hail Mary in last ditch effort to take Spineless Congressional Career Hypocrite Award away from Paul Ryan:
The GOP’s contortions to defend Trump — as epitomized by Orrin Hatch
President Trump on Friday was implicated in a crime by federal prosecutors in New York.
Sen. Orrin G. Hatch’s (R-Utah) response: What is a crime, even?
In an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju, Hatch basically shrugged his shoulders at the entire matter, in which both Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen and the prosecutors now say Trump directed Cohen to commit a campaign finance violation involving a secret $130,000 hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.
“I don’t think he was involved in crimes,” Hatch said, “but even then, you know, you can make anything a crime under the current laws if you want to. You can blow it way out of proportion. You can do a lot of things.”
Hatch suggested it also didn’t matter to him because it came before Trump was president and because Trump is doing a good job. “The Democrats will do anything to hurt this president,” he said. When Raju noted that it was federal prosecutors and not Democrats who implicated Trump in a crime, Hatch said: “Okay, but I don’t care. All I can say is he’s doing a good job as president.”
The comments are shocking in and of themselves. Here is a U.S. senator (one whom Trump notably gave a Medal of Freedom one month ago) suggesting the law is completely malleable and that he doesn’t even care if the president committed a crime. Hatch is the longest-serving Republican senator and is retiring this year, so he won’t be around for any action the Senate takes in response to the Russia investigation findings.
But his comments are particularly striking when you consider what he has said before on the topic.
In August, by contrast, he said the allegation that Trump was involved in this campaign finance violation should be taken seriously.
"Those are some serious charges, and they can’t be ignored,” Hatch said. “I’m not very happy about it — I’ll put it that way — and [it] should have never happened to begin with.”
Hatch then allowed for the possibility that such things could lead to a debate over impeachment. “I wouldn’t go that far just yet,” Hatch said, before adding that “we have to take these matters very seriously. People ought to be treated equivalently around here.”

I disagree with your characterization of “Orin Hatch throws Hail Mary in last ditch effort to take Spineless Congressional Career Hypocrite Award away from Paul Ryan”
No one can take that away from Paul Ryan because he is forever enshrined in the Career Hypocrite Hall of Fame - Deficit Peacock Wing. Hatch is just the latest inductee joining such luminaries as Lindsay Graham in the Sgt Schultz Memorial “Crime? What Crime?” Wing

Re: republicans have no shame
Trump's BFF David Pecker of AMI has flipped. According to the Southern District of New York, AMI/Pecker were working "in concert" with the Trump campaign and they have put Trump in the room committing a felony to silence Karen McDougal, right before the election.
The noose is tightening, and while it was one thing, (despite Cohen's tape), for "law and order" republicans to try to undermine Michael Cohen's guilty pleas implicating Trump by characterizing the hush money to Stormy Danials as a "personal expense" and Michael Cohen as a habitual "liar", it's going to be a much higher hill to climb for Rudy, Thune, Grassley, Hatch, McConnell, et al. to sacrifice what little credibility they might srill have to spin and mischaracterize AMI's coordination with the Trump campaign to suppress news stories in an effort to influence the 2016 election.

Left should have put forth better candidates...because as terrible as trump is, I think we would be FAR worse off with Hillary running our country.

Think of the leverage someone could have over a president who's trying to keep something like that quiet. It's not that he had the affair(s), none of us give a damn about that, it's that he's lied about it. And that, and paying hush money to keep it quiet, makes him vulnerable. Democrat, republican, independent, don't we deserve to not be lied to by our presidents, or to have a president smart enough to avoid situations that can make them, and America, vulnerable? Have some self respect.
For reference, to even avoid the appearance of any conflict of interest, when Jimmy Carter was elected President in 1976, he sold his peanut farm. Did he have to? No. But, just like him and every other president* since, they released their tax returns. But, of course, not Trump. Before Trump, they all felt they owed it to the American people, if they wanted to earn America's trust.

I remember when they released their tax records when Bill ran.
And they took deductions for donating used underwear.
That was fun.

Trump is not guilty of any lie, falsehood, fabrication, false claim, or toxic exaggeration that equals the lies of one past president whose Alamo-sized ego caused the deaths of thousands of Americans and another chief executive who denied his serial adultery. Most Americans can see the difference between an out-and-out lie and self-evident hyperbole, even if the mainstream press and Trump’s political opponents cannot or will not.

There just isn't enough time passed to see the impacts of Trump's lies yet. The impact of his absurd tax cut will be felt for decades if we don't get them rolled back soon and the impact of some of his rollbacks of EPA regulations could lead to the deaths of thousands of people unnecessarily.dolomite wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 9:11 am Don't know your history?

And FFS, don't call people "buddy boy". It's not 1955 any more. Such childish attemps at a "put you in your place" just make you look petty and ignorant. If you want people to take you seriously, don't act like a child.

The most consequential presidential liar was Lyndon B. Johnson, who repeatedly promised during the 1964 presidential campaign, “We are not about to send American boys 9 or 10 thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves.” At the very same time and with Johnson’s approval, the Pentagon was drawing up plans to send the first wave of more than 100,000 American servicemen to Vietnam. Johnson’s macho determination not to “lose” Vietnam led him to keep increasing the number of American troops until they reached over 500,000. His strategy produced ever mounting U.S. fatalities, reaching a total of 58,000 by the time fighting ended in 1973.
And this;
As we now know, President John F. Kennedy covered up his precarious health (he had Addison’s disease, a serious hormonal condition), denied his many extra-marital affairs with gangster molls and Hollywood stars, and lied about a non-existent “missile gap” in the 1960 presidential race. Once elected, he allowed the Pentagon to announce that no missile gap existed.
And this;
The monumental presidential lie of the last half century is President Nixon’s denial of White House involvement in the Watergate burglary. Nixon lied until he was forced to release tapes that proved his part in the cover-up, which forced him to resign.
