DIY Wireless Home Alarms
DIY Wireless Home Alarms
I'm leaning towards SimpliSafe, but wonder if any of you have experience with them, or another product you'd recommend, or avoid.

An alarm that eats 10 lbs a day....pisses on my furniture...and twice a week drags one of my shoes to the backyard to gnaw on?
Crap, I already have 2 of those alarms.

Re: DIY Wireless Home Alarms
The only problem is that the newest alarm that I got goes off constantly.
No difference between an intruder scaling my security wall or a car door being closed down the street!

Where's TDub to give you all a thorough tongue bathing for getting off topic, when I need him?

After that comment, it's hard not to conclude that 99 is the voice of "thorough" TDub "tongue bathing" experience.

I have SimpliSafe. I have had a generally good experience with it. Easy enough to set up, intuitive to use. Doesn’t play very well with other smart home stuff if that’s your thing.

By being on topic, jfish26's post seems off topic.
That's my main problem with SimpliSafe.

Every security system also has a particular vulnerability, too. My recollection is that SimpliSafe’s is that it’s worthless if cellular data service is bad or (lol) jammed. Other systems have their own problems.
For this reason, I’ve heard several law enforcement people tell me you should NOT put a branded sign (“Protected by ADT”) in your yard or window. You’re only signaling how you can be beat.
