In China if the government wants to build a rail line from Point A to Point B.....it builds the rail line from Point A to Point B. In the US you can't just grab the land because of resisting property owners and environmental impact statement requirements. If your desired route will negatively impact a spotted owl, snail darter or some other example of protected wildlife you are SOL. And ....union labor rates will make the costs prohibitive....as California Governor Newsom just admitted.

If we weren't giving corporations massive tax cuts and wasting billions on worthless walls, we could actually afford to do these projects.
