OK, but the real crime is that these "amateur" athletes are allowed to sign endorsement deals.

It should be about the love of the game and country. An absolute shame.

Wait! Before you lock this thread, does anyone know how the swimmers were dressed?

That is, has anyone considered that they were asking for it?

If any of them were in 2-pieces, case is closed: implied consent.

cuz the NBAers largely don’t care about the olympics

never again will we see a Dream Team, with the absolute best the USA has to offer

but was it the best we had to offer?

i’m looking at the roster, and there are some questionable names

it just seems like there are always a few “stars” that opt out, for one reason or another

Maybe there for leadership.
Chris Paul, Kobe, LeBron, Melo, DWade, Bosh, Howard.
Pretty stacked.

My go to when people say the best college team could never beat the worst NBA team.....
First off, "never" is a VERY strong word and then I ask them to tell me about the 2004 USA Olympic Basketball team.

Worst coaching job by Larry Brown in his career?

2004 roster......
Iverson
Marbury
Melo
LeBron
Duncan
Wade
Boozer
Okafor
Marion
Stoudemire
Odom
Jefferson

Lost to Puerto Rico by 19. Lost to Lithuania by 4. Lost to Argentina by 8.
I figure someone could have gotten 50-1 odds they would lose all 3 of those games.

Yet I think there are only two of those guys on an All Star team that year ( LeBron, Melo, DWade all hadn't peaked ). We didn't send our best that year -- I specifically remember being a bit upset about it that Pierce, Vince and Bryant skipped it. It's why the 08 team was nicknamed 'redeem team'.

You'd want this lineup in 2004:

Duncan
Garnett
McGrady
Kobe
Baron Davis

Shaq
Vince
Kidd
Pierce
Ray Allen

So do you start a small lineup in the Olympics with these guys?

Durant
Tatum
Booker
Beal
Lillard

Or does Bam or KLove get a starting spot? If Booker isn't ready bc of the playoffs, you could slide in LaVine.

Have to start Bam… Gotta rebound. Surprised they didn’t add 1 more big like a Clint Capela or something like that.
