Sounds like guys are being asked to take grayshirts because we overrecruited.

Recruiting sked was badly handled by the prior staff. Very badly.

I'm certain they had their rationale. Oh, well...

Yup. Good sign for the program when you can cut loose 3 star players to leave room for better ones. KU hasn’t had that luxury for a long time.

This is exactly what I’ve kind of gathered. Overrecruited like crazy. Which happens at most schools. Only thing I don’t like is that both have been OL.

Some also not great news.

Ashaad Clayton committed to Colorado today. That was KUs big target. 4 start RB out of LA. Still going to take his visit to KU in December. Last visit before signing day. Les and Hull need to come strong on that visit.

The Clayton commit is more concerning than the decommits.

I do hope we see some OL commits soon, otherwise it's hard to buy the over-recruit angle. Granted, one of those guys hasn't played in awhile because of injury.

Yeah Clayton has had a weird recruitment. Injured junior year. Fairly quiet year this year and in recruiting as well. Doesn’t say much. First visit was to Colorado. And Colorado came out of nowhere a few months back.

Kansas been on him basically since Hull got here. Could he be like Jason and others who flip at the end? Don’t know. But I know Kansas is scheduled right now to get one more shot. And you can bet Miles and Hull are going to pull out all the stops (Who’s the bag guy for football?)

Also, I do wonder a little bit about those guys in Louisiana who are highly rated early, and then tend to drop off. When Jason committed to KU, he was a fairly high 4 star guy. Dropped to a 3 star when said and done and became irrelevant and transferring from Miss St. Clayton has kind of been the same. Got to like 70th in his class, now is 100.

I never understood the the whole "commit to a school, but still take visits to other schools" part of college football recruiting.

You get 5 I believe so why not?

Get tons of food, free stuff people get to take you out and many other things.

But yeah the commitment means nothing in football anymore. Basketball the only major sport where there doesn’t seem to be flipping commitments.

I get why the kids do it...but it has to drive the coaches insane to have continually recruit a kid who has already committed to their program.

They love it because they get to tamper with "committed" recruits from other schools.

They roll out the red carpet for you in ways a kid that age can't imagine possible. When my older son was going through those visits, schools toured them, introduced them at ballgames, let them hang out on the sideline, brought in pretty girls, fed them well, and turned them loose for parties with current players who had a budget that they used to buy booze and other forms of entertainment - all without the coaches' "knowledge". Pretty intoxicating for a 17-18 year old kid.

Visits are the best. Behind the scenes, VIP treatment, and the coaches telling you how much they love you. Who doesn't love that.

In the day and age of social media kids also love to post about getting offers, committing and 're-opening' their commitment.

Easy, Pardner. You’ll invoke the wrath of Grandma.
